MTing Thornmarch EX?

so i got a few attempts at this before a few people rage quit.
I would grab both the king and gld moogle then on 3 stacks me and the OT would swap our moogles and i would get mrd moogle and he would get the gld moogle then a few seconds later I would die.
Am I doing something wrong here? Ilvl 95 pld had shield oath up both times this happened.


EDIT: Thank you all for the most helpful advice, tried swapping king and it went much smoother. Didn't clear it cause whm cast holy and killed half the group but got close ^.^

Try keeping your GLA target and swapping the king instead. Loads easier imho.

Why swap moogles? You swap the king. Swapping moogles just sounds dangerous if they're low on health and you can't kill the king and you have the same moogle on you the whole fight. Mog Ex is the easiest Extremem primal for tanks. There isn't an MT in Mog it's so easy. It's whomever starts the fight gets the king first.

Ok so technically there is an MT/OT, but it's not a big issue in this fight. To swap the king just Provoke Tomahawk/Shield Lob. I always focus target the other tanks moogle so I can see when it hits 3 stacks.

yes just swap the king with target focus on the OTs moogle

I don't even bother waiting for 3 stacks apart from initial pull after that i just taunt as soon as buff was clear.

Its not that swaping moogles is harder, problem is when they meet they give each other buffs, so if one have 1 and second 2 they will have both 3 .... thats why you swap king. Also keep the king far away from bard and archer. Bard buffs any moogle in range and make king and pld combo hit a lot harder and when king buffs archer that arrow attack that targets few ppl and hit them with aoe hits a lot harder to the point of IK with enough buffs.

It's harder, because
1: moogle reset hate after certain combo attacks you have to constantly hit your moogle.
2: you loose a ton of damage by not hitting the moogles, where the king just need a voke swap
3: The king moves slowly, moogles do not
4: Combo combo combo attacks. Makes people's lives miserable

In general you want to keep the king away from every moogle. Any moogle buffed will one shot people, if not from single hits, from combo powers.

The OT has free reign of the field and only need to watch out for the bard, reason the King Holder is the most important role in the fight.

King Holder is a tough job, but the entire party has every right to blame the King holder for anything and everything, because he basically make every mechanic a snowball effect.

Only saving grace is that the healing resets stacks.

the only mog that you don't want it to gain stack is the Archer. THF can 1 shot people with stack or without (THF 1 shot my WHM friend b4 with 0 stack). OT and MT just have to stand far enough of eachother so that the king doesn't buff both tank mog. and the yea, you swap King not Tank mog.

after that it a Leech/Esuna game. (if your healer can get rid of debuff faster enough, it an easy fight after that.)

Not likely. Unless your whm friend has 2k life. Thf will hit for about 3k with 1 stack and 2-3 stacks is roughly 4k-4.5k. And if the Thf is near the bard then it will one shot at lower stacks.

But no:

Thf will not oneshot or even 2 shot with no stacks, not even with a bard. You friend either got a super unlucky crit+bard or he saw it wrong.

2-3stacks thfs are deadly though. 4.5k on 3 stacks is pretty much point of no return

And you don't want any stacks on anyone. Combo attacks should be avoided but delta has been known to catch it's fair share of people, and the difference there is if any of the combo moogles have stacks. One shot delta and "90%" delta is a big big difference.

-Bard you don't want to be near anything anyway

-Whm he does cure you know not the biggest deal, but you don't want a buff whm when you are on the last phase

-blm meteor. Sure it's avoidable, but it has caught a few people. Seen it one shot before with a few stacks.

You can still win with a few mistakes but it doesn't make it easier. There's just no excuse. Don't stack any moogle at best personal best. It just snow balls.

the WHM that got 1 shot was i92 from full HP. (I was in the group at the time as well,)

here is what my group do when we were farming him.
Put MT east OT West and have them stay there. swap boss at 2-3 stack. (Archer is 90% staying at North, so he should never get hit) our tank is barely move at all (unless dodge BRD song and other AoE)
as long as the tank doesn't get buff together, BRD doesn't got too many stack, or healer mess up Esuna/leech. we usually kill the King without any issue
never have THF 1 shot any 1 consistency even at 3-4 stack.

btw BLM only cast flare, the Meteor that you say is Moggle LB that all of them cast together.
