Expansion, how much longer?

I'm not here to complain about lack of content, hell I'm enjoying everything we've been given thus far. I am however curious, given the amount of effort that went in to saving this game from the godforsaken original version, how close do you think we are to seeing a legitimate expansion.

Before anyone complains, I like the current content pace, I'm just wondering what direction they will go in and when. WoW will release Burning crusade 2.0 sometime in the fall so that will bring in some new subscriptions, but once they see that it's just a rehash of old content most will leave. That puts FFXIV in an interesting position continue patch content and develop the current storyline, or finish of the current storyline in the next patch and start focusing on the future expanded content.

We should be getting some info about 1st expansion next month in E3 2014.

As for release Yoshi-P has it planned to be within 2 years since 2.0 is released which is either after patch 2.4, 2.5, or 2.6.

From the original ARR poster featuring all the primals we still have Ramuh, Shiva and Bahamut himself left. We already know Ramuh is 2.3 so Shiva will definitely be in 2.4 along with the third Coil since 2.3 will be the second and actual CT, it remains to be seen if Bahamut will be introduced in either 2.4 in the third Coil or if he'll be in 2.5 on his own or in a possible fourth Coil and also if there will be a third CT raid right before the expansion. Shiva is also most likely the reason Coerthas is frozen so defeating her would be the perfect transition into part of the region being unfrozen like the big ice wall, which would also be a good way to introduce new areas for the expansion and also into opening Ishgard since they mentioned we will finally get access to it in the expansion.

There's also a Coil like entrance in Boulder Downs or at least an Allagan structure of some sort so that could be a fourth Coil since the third one is in the Burning Wall in Eastern Thanalan, though there's also another Coil like structure in Mor Dhona north of the Singing Shards, depends what they do with them really since they also mentioned the Coil saga will be over and there will be an entirely different endgame dungeon series for the expansion.

That's what everything currently points towards but it obviously still can change and do a complete 360, also depends if they follow yet another WoW concept of introducing an expansion after a .4 patch, but they could still do their own thing and go further up to 2.5 or even a 2.6. So all this said it probably won't be released until a good 9 up to maybe 12 months from now, maybe E3 will have some concrete info about it.
