ELEMENTAL WHEEL REWORKED ?

Do you guys think this will ever happen and if they will bring it back into FFXIV ARR battle system?

For people who don't know this is why it was taken out.

Considering how thoroughly the Dev Team has fled away from elemental weaknesses and strengths? No, it won't get worked into the Battle System again.

Your reminder of the "reasons" it was taken out show why it wouldn't be worked back in. In fact it's kind of boggling that it happened at all.

They would have to rework CNJ and THM to do it properly otherwise there would be situations where THM/BLM would be gimped badly due to elemental resistances seeing as they only have access to Fire, Ice and Thunder natively and Thunder isn't even a nuke persay. You'd never want a BLM on Ifrit for instance as at best he'd take half damage from fire if not 0 damage or absorb, leaving BLM with Ice nukes and Thunder. WHM/CNJ has Air, Earth and Water and only Stone is an actual nuke. This is beside the fact they're a healer role not a DPS. SMN at the moment would be rough as well since they don't have the six elements covered yet.

I hope they some how do find away to rework it back in some how. Wish it never got taken out. It worked really well in FFXI. Sad really that they thought the way they did and took it out.

Don't you feel like the fact that they took it out makes the summons for summoner kind of pointless. And even with the new egi's to come have to wonder is there any point to the egis being an element in the first places. Since you never really see people use ifrit because his element is fire and could be useful into for an mob that is weak against fire. When Levi comes out will people still only use Garuda. This is why i hope they find away to rework it in some how.

It worked in FFXI because every caster had access to every element. This is not the case in FFXIV.

Yup, which is really sad that they don't in ARR. I think I remember them having it in 1.x, but think Yoshida said something like not wanting people to have to much to think about or something.

"Yoshida said something like not wanting people to have to much to think about or something" That really makes me fell like he thinks that people wouldn't be able to use there brain if this was added and people would have a panic attack and a brain melt down lol.

i feel it could work later down the road at higher levels when jobs have more access to skills. they could potentially gain access to the other elements and it can work out. but if thats the case only the bosses for that level and up would have elemental wheels. but who knows

I've always found it kind of odd how "certain Jobs might be excluded" is a reason against anything in a game where being able to level everything is one of the key selling points that sets it apart from other MMOs.

Still, with everything already set in stone, it would be a massive undertaking to change at this point, so whatever. Hopefully we can get a Job which deals with the elemental wheel at some point in the future, similar to how Ninja worked in XI.
