Tried off and on since 2.2 going live to create macros using some of the icons macros that the Official post for Patch 2.2 Notes (Full Release) (03/26/2014) said we could now use. (scroll all the way to the bottom for the list.)

Many still do not show the icon even after its pulled down to your hotbar, I especially noticed when trying to use emotes icon pictures for macros.

Please note that the rest of the macro, does work, its the Macro Icon feature not working for emotes or mounts.


Tried different formats for the first line thinking maybe was syntax. Tried the following format examples:

/micon Smile
/micon smile
/micon "Smile"
/micon "smile"
/macroicon Smile
/macroicon smile
/macroicon "Smile"
/macroicon "smile"

Emotes tried that failed:
smile
yes
huh
alert
wave
Harvest Dance
happy

mounts tired that failed
Coeurl
Legacy Chocobo

minions tried that failed:
Baby Opo-opo

I did not try every single emote, but thought I should at least report it.
