Duty Finder broken? Dragoon a DPS slot 100% of time?

I'm not sure if they broke the Duty Finder recently, or what.

Whenever I queue for a dungeon no matter if it is a Roulette or a direct dungeon queue, there is nearly 100% of the time a Dragoon as one of the 2 DPS classes.

What is going on here? It wouldn't bother me if EVERY SINGLE group weren't wanting to run the dungeon "speed run" style where they pull 4 or 5 packs of monsters all at once.

I am talking about joining a Brayflox Hardmode, etc...and the tank proceeds to pull every monster before the first boss, and same on 2nd boss. With a Dragoon and Bard for DPS.

You are looking at an epic fight lasting a LONG time and draining the WHM of nearly all MP even with Shroud used...and the tank running out of CDs and nearly dying a time or two.

Why is it that Dragoon seems to be a reserved slot on EVERY DF group 100% of the time? Is this thing broken?

Its not that DRG is a reserved slot. Its more like the only way a DRG is getting into a dungeon, since we all know thats gunna be unchecked in a bray SR.

I think the DF tries to grab 1 ranged DPS and 1 melee DPS, and there are more dragoons than monks so maybe that's why?

But honestly a DRG does just fine if they do it right.... leave CoT at home please and b4b/internal release and spike. Critting for 400ish every gcd does good dig. Not optimal but good.

This reminds me when I ran 10 Crystal Tower in a week and literally every DPS slot was Bard or Black Mage except, like, twice.

Then it was all Bards and one Monk. Maybe a Summoner snuck in when someone dropped mid-run after not getting their drop, IDK.

Problem with spamming Doomspike is its atrocious TP cost and even with Invigorate will leave you wanting for TP before everything's dead. Also, with the way I've seen tanks pull, some of the enemies won't be hit by it since it's in a line. Circle of Thorns is just plain weak unless chained together after a Heavy Thrust, which should be used anyway before starting a Doomspike spam if that's what you want anyway.

Regardless, pick your poison.

FWIW.... I have a SMN BRD and MNK.

My mnk queue times, for anything, is under 5 minutes. Switch to brd? Looking at 15-20+. Smn? Middle of the road.

Long story short, there aren't enough melee in the game so it prioritizes trying to get one from what I can figure.

i made some tests because trying to do DF as ranged dps was insane however drg got shorter queues....and i was wondering if something was going on or wth!

what i found is , DF trys to put 1 tank 1 healer 1 melee 1 ranged dps first , so if there are 1 drg 4 brd 2 smn 3 blm , the party will be 1 drg and the 1 in queue for the ranged dps.

if there is no melee , 1 tank 1 healer 2 ranged (1 caster , 1 bard)

and if doesnt find melee or caster 2 brds are put on the same party.

Limit break ,stat buffs ,loot share is why the DF works like that i guess ?, so bards get the short end of the stick in DF queues.

And since there are LOOOOOOOOTS of brds/blms :rolleyes:

mnks / drg enjoy faster queues than ranged no doubt

4-5 packs at once isn't a speed run.

I've been in x2 DRG groups where we still hit the 2nd boss in around 7-8 minutes. That's not a "long time", and played properly DRG will make very short work of large aoe packs. The ones you got stuck with were just bad.

Considering most DRGs don't use heavy thrust, don't use doom spike, spam non combo ring of thorns etc (or DO combo it on single target), I can see why most people would dread getting a group with one, let alone two.

Lucky you, I keep getting 2 bards and not having a limit break blows.
