End game Gear questions

Hi everyone. So I'm still rather new (only lv 42, first job) and I noticed that after 50 its just all about gear and the item levels that continue to to progress your character instead of character levels themselves. This is kind of weird to me, but ok. I like learning new skills as I level but I'll get over it.

My question is: Is there just a single gear set that's the best, or do you get a choice of gear sets to choose from? I feel like it'd be kind of lame to have all endgame players wearing the exact same gear set... even if you can change the look.

Thoughts?

There are Best in Slot lists out there. But it is not that easy to get every single piece of gear that is BiS because of lockouts, soldiery cap and RNG.

So what I do is wear as much BiS gear that I have in my possession for primals. And then for coil, I reach accuracy cap first and then mix and match what I have.

its all a matter of preference. really just depends on what you want to slot for.

dragoon gets the best stat scaling from determination, and prioritizes accuracy in coil, but there aren't very many pieces above item level 100 that have both.

below that its just a matter of if you want to farm coil and myth tomes, or gather the gil to craft and meld.

So there is no single best gear for each slot? You have a choice between a multitude of gears that can be equally effective in their own ways? I feel like the question want really answered that well.

High Allagan everything is best everything :rolleyes:

No, there are pieces that are BiS, that will give you the best stats for most output. But like I said, it isn't easy to get all the pieces.

Yes, I guess that is true. If you have high allagan weapon.

K, I'm not really concerned with difficulty of getting them. I was just hoping that not everyone will be wearing the exact same stuff.

they won't. sure, the hardcore end gamers that can actually down that content will all be gunning for that set, but that's only a very small percentage that will have many if any BiS.

the percentage of people downing 6-9 will be less than the percentage that beat 1-5.

ilvl 110 is pretty much second coil only.

i'm pretty positive that many players will lose their minds and buy full soldiery gear, but glamour is here to make us not look like an endless legion of identicals.
