BLM spell speed

So I've recently started to try and optimize my BLM dps since we are single tanking turn 8. Anyways, is there a "magic number" where spell speed stops being as beneficial? If so what is it? Basically I've just been reading a lot about things and hear spell speed is awesome, just need to know how much.

I think people generally build BLM 3 way, Crit/DET, Pure Spell Speed, or Mix. Pure Spell speed seem to be the most dps in 2.1. (then again the different in Each BiS DPS is about 10 DPS)
Unless you at avg 110,
just go for
Cap ACC > ilv/INT > CRIT/DET or SS

you want to be at highest Ilv before start to optimizing 2nd stat

Yeah I know that but I am already I90 and don't really plan on gearing it hard unless I happen to get higher ilvl drops. So just looking to optimize I90 more.

If you're already i90, moving into SCoB and i110 gear your stat priority is weapon dmg>int>crit>=ss>det where currently the diminishing returns on SS and crit are not really affecting us yet (as there isn't much SS on gear this patch and crit's DR is way up there) and det continues to get worse as we get more int on our gear. The reason its crit>=ss is because while crit is "better" its so insignificant that you wouldn't notice a difference between all the RNG while dpsing for us. Look here http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...age-Calculator for more detail. Otherwise, if you are just strictly in i90 its weapon dmg>int>SS>crit>det as SS scales much better on that gear.

Right now the stats weight are:
1 Crit = 0.26 DPS
1 Spell Speed = 0.258
1 Det = 0.2

The difference between SpellSpeed and Crit is so minimal (That's be like 100 crit = 99 Spell speed)

Your current stats choice are like this

Hit Cap (470) > Weapon damage > Intelligence > Crit = Spell Speed > Det.

With all BiS you can reach 470 Hit and the lowest Det is 240. You can split Spell Speed and Crit however you want as long you have the two previous conditions set. I'd recommend you don't blindly follow someone that says Crit/Det. If you have doubts, go on a dummy and parse the builds on a dummy just to see which one is higher. If people tell you SpellSpeed is bad on mobility, there's way to counter it with Aetherial Manipulation.

This is exactly correct and exactly how you should be gearing.

Determination becomes even worse when you take into account that if you've got 10 det on something that stat is replacing say 15 crit/sspd or whatever. Avoid at (nearly) all costs.

I guess the op is just going ton T8 as the 5th DPS.It's not his main class.In that case i think having the acc cap is the most important.The rest is manageable .

Spell Speed works really well for BLMs because they have no auto-attack. In terms of just pure ability damage, Speed beats all other 2ndary stats (except acc), hands down. Even with melees who do have auto-attack, Speed still wins with the possible exception of Determination. That being said, 2ndary stats hardly makes a difference; if you are having significant DPS issues, its not your 2ndary stats that's the problem.

The absolute raise in crit is static, you will always require the same amount of crit points to get a 1% increases. However, a percentage raise in crit is worth less the more overall crit percentage you have.

Speed however works differently. The lower your GCD is, the more Speed points it will require to lower it by a specific absolute amount. However, the lower your GCD is, the more an absolute reduction becomes. -0.1 sec is worth much more at a 2.0 sec GCD than it does at a 2.5 GCD sec. A lot of people seem to be confused on this, especially Monks since Greased Lightning lowers their GCD by so much already that the the reduction from Speed seems even more insignificant that what 2ndary stats already are.
