Raid Question about T2 since Dungeons works best. Tank swapping??

Since the Enrage method for T2 has become the near-standard way to run it, and having done it dozens of times myself, I've never seen anyone even suggest that tank swapping was a way to run it. Today in the roulette I got a WAR and PLD, which would mean that the WAR should DPS and PLD will tank, simple enough. Yet the Lalafell tank decided with the PLD that they should be tank swapping for some reason, so both would leave their Enmity boost move on then just stand next to each other and wail on it together constantly both getting hit and getting Vulnerability Up.

Was this ever a thing to do? Because I don't see how when most parties would go 1 Tank, 3 Healers, and 4 DPS. And you couldn't even Duty Finder the first five turns of Coil till 2.2.

Players do that sometimes, because a single tank with 8 stacks of Vulnerability Up can be killed sometimes, very rare but it does happens, so some tanks prefer to have swapping at 3-4 stacks. Before Coil 1 was put on DF, players set up PF party instead so they can just set it to single tank, and you don't need 3 healers, 2 is fine, so before DF you will never see players forming T2 enrage farm with 2 tanks. With DF you don't really have much of a choice since you definitely will get 2 tank.

But based on what you said they are doing it wrong, you do not stand next to each other for tank swapping, one will stand infront of ADS while the other 90° from the front to prevent both getting cleave. If there are no other melee beside the tank then they can just stand opposite of each other. At 3-4 stacks the OT will provoke from MT, MT will stop attacking for a while so that the OT can gain agro.

If it was two tanks and no melee DPS they would have been on opposite sides of the boss so they don't both get hit by the invisible frontal-cone AoE then swapping aggro every 3-4 stacks.

Part of the problem is that many melee dance all over the place for positional combos, when they have no need to. So it's just a minor adjustment when the tanks swap, but they can't do it for whatever reason.

It's possible to swap without ever hitting the melee, except that I don't know why melee like to stand with the OT when the other side is totally empty, I would relocate if I find the melee standing with me, but still after a few combo I find them standing with me again after I relocate. It's like dude you gonna get cleave when I tank swap or in some cases where we are not swapping, but there is a chance that I might pull agro from the MT and that melee gonna get cleave as well.

Yeah, what I meant was that the melee can't seem to sit in the right spot. ie on that border of the flank/rear on either side. And when the tanks swap(assuming 90 degrees from each other) they just need to move 90 degrees. And even then it's possible to stay in one spot as melee as well.

Lol.. It's funny to see people admit they've done nothing but the cheesy, unintended method for this fight. SE comments said enrage method wasn't an exploit, but it also wasn't intended. (PS. understandable, as I suppose most everybody wants to do it that way nowadays)

The real way to do it involved tank swapping. I seem to remember swapping on 3 stacks at the start. It also involved Allagan Rot being passed from player to player in a game of "hot potato" and 2 people coordinating to silence High Voltage. It was actually an intense fight before Enrage method became popular. I've never actually used Enrage method (t2 stopped being worth the time), but I hear it took away most of the tactics and just replaced it with a lot of healing. So sad. =/

Yes back in the day tank swapping was at like 3 or 4 iirc. It was best for one tank to stand behind the node, when swap time came he / she would run up and take it and other tank ran behind it. Waited for debuff reset and repeat. Too easy.

Enrage is super, super easy. Two heals is generally all you need. I have it timed to where I enter with no HV or Piercing laser. Program executes a couple secs after I aggro ADS.

I too am done with this turn though. Not fun at all. It is though a means to getting my war lion...
