Mouse doesn't register clicking on anything

Initially when I created my first character, I selected "Gamepad" for my controls. I soon realized I was much more comfortable using kbm. Now whenever I logout and log back in, I have full kbm capability except that my mouse can't click on anything. It doesn't register as me selecting. Whether the gamepad is plugged in or not does not seem to matter. I have used the game pad to go into settings and make sure I have mouse play selected, but it makes no difference.

Please help!
