Global Cooldown: Does it get any better?

Hey guys! I recently purchased this game about 2 weekends ago. I only really play on weekends, but in long gaming sessions, so I'm level 25. I play on Ps4, and switched to this game from World of Warcraft because my computer couldn't hold the size of an MMO anymore, so seeing you can play this game on Ps4, I decided to give it a whirl.

Of course, the game is a masterpiece, the areas are beautiful, the animations are very fluid, includes a pretty sophisticated story line, the players base is extremely friendly, the areas are dynamic ( I miss seamless worlds though haha ) but there is one thing bugging me.

The global cool down is 2.5 seconds. I understand that you can get gear that lowers the GCD, but only by about a tenth of a second. Hence, this is a problem. The combat in this game is rather boring. But I don't want to give it up yet, because I've heard it gets very active at level 50. So here is my question to you:

1.) Is there any ability downtime at level 50? Okay, let me rephrase, of course there is, but how long will I have to wait for abilities at level 50? I understand some abilities are off the GCD, but they have like 20 second CD's themselves. Do I find myself waiting in combat to use an ability at level 50?

2.) What class (melee class please!) has the least ability downtime at level 50?

3.) Does Yoshi-P (or... whatever his name is!) plan to lower the GCD in the future? If not, I think I'm just gonna buy a gaming computer & go back to WoW :(

Most classes eventually get a lot of off-GCD actions and instant-cast/luck-based triggers that you have to watch out for.

Gladiator/Paladin is probably the worst choice if this is bugging you but at level cap I haven't found it to be too bad. You should give Pugilist/Monk a try as completing combos decreases your cooldowns and combined with needing to reposition and move around a lot for ideal damage and for avoiding attacks there is very little downtime.

Most classes have plenty of off-GCD skills to keep you pounding buttons during normal GCD rotations. Drg has jumps and leg sweep for instance that can be used inbetween normal GCD. At 50 you really don't have time to sit there waiting there's always something to plan for to use.

Could try Bard, Bloodletter spam, Repelling Shot and Blunt Arrow during Global Cooldowns is fun.

I think I'll try monk first because it is melee, but bard is definitely a runner up! Thanks for all the helpful responses guys!

Good luck! All classes start off really slow and boring but obviously as you level up there's a ton more to do.
