How long does it take to check launcher version?

With all the BS this morning I decided to uninstall an dd fresh install the game but for the last hour+ it's been checking launcher version. I assume its some form of patching and remember it took a bit last time I had to install, but can't remember how long it took.

So does anyone know how long it should take for a fresh install to finish checking launcher version?

EDIT: At the top of my program it says FFXIV Boot Ver. 2013.06.18.0000.0000

Ok I restarted my computer and ran it as admin. It updated and launcher the actual launcher and I'm now actually patching. I'm guessing i was in some loop or something, but does anyone know why it took running the launcher for an hour then restarting and running as admin for it to actually launch the launcher and let me start patching? if i remember right this happened last time I downloaded the game
