Starting Over Without Starting Over

In a successful MMO, players will play the same characters for years. Why all the permanent choices players may later come to regret? Please SE, let us change:

-Name
-Race
-Gender
-Appearance
-Chocobo point allocations.

(to name a few)

And please don't make everything Mogstation/real money purchaseable. Can't we have some of this for Grand Company Seals or gil? (similar to having the Keeper's Hymn or Barber?)

Limiting this to once in a set time period would be understandable. Right now, however, SE is presenting a lose-lose scenario: start over and repeat content that will likely seem trivial and boring to you now or dislike your character (until the dislike grows sufficiently that you get bored of the entire game).

We really need these options soon, especially Fantasia/Chocobo respec.
I know you care about what your players want, SE, and there seems like no downside here.

Name - "Namingway" item in the works / Workaround: paying for 2 character transfers (one off-world, then back to the original world). between the transfers create a character with the exact name you have and want to change from on the world you transferred off, when you bring them back it'll force you into a name change / Likely real money

Race/Gender/Appearance(non-hair) - Phials of Fantasia, get 1 for a Veteran Reward, more sources are in the works / Workaround? None I know of, sorry... / Likely real money

Appearance(hair) - Aesthetician, but you're probably not asking for this one / Gil

Chocobo Points - in the works, probably a GC item to reset them like the ones for class stats / Likely GC Seals

Actually I have 3 characters, one Lalafell which is my main and favorite, one Miqote for fun healing and one Hyur based on my CB character ^^;. I must admit its annoying to lvl up but I made new ones for the reasons OP listed. Cool names, new race and skin tones, body proportions and such were primary reasons to make new characters. Though i will acknowledge that other players focus on progression and won't care about looks like some of us do. Hopefully SE can one day implement this into FFXIV.

Most of that is already covered.

Chocobo resets are coming someday, although we expected to get them quite a while ago.

Character rename should be coming eventually as well, but we don't know when. Expect it to be a cash shop item.

Character Gender, Race, Clan and appearance recustomization already exists, it's called a fantasia potion. Supposedly it will be added to the cash shop sooner or later so you can buy more.

Non-cash shop appearance changes are available from the asthetician. Go do the quest for him and you can access him from your inn room. But like barbers in other games, you can't change everything.

I'd like to add to that list the ability to rename my retainers without dismissing them. (Unless there is a way and I missed it)
