Commendation System!
So I really love this system, the ONLY issue I have is that I can't thank someone because I like to run in a party!
I don't want to commend my friend but I can't help feel awful if I'm with a really good player and I can't show my thanks through a commendation...
I was thinking it could be changed so that you can still use the system in a party but you just can't use it on anyone IN your party.. Currently if there are two separate parties then no one gets a commendation. :(
What do you think?

You can always say, "Hey bro, your skillz are mad bro, I enjoy playing with you bro, I'm in a party so I can't commend you bro, if you were a potato based food bro you would be a tater tot bro, because tater tots are the best potato based food bro." I suggest making a macro, since you may not want to type it all out every time.
Really I agree you should be able to commend folks as long as you didn't que up with them, but just like the duty roulette, it was implemented pretty quickly, and they have said they are looking to let multiple people que up for roulettes together maybe they can work this in too.

Hi, welcome, and yes, yes...
It happens to me all the time I enter to dungeons and see people that really really deserves a commendation, but... I can't because I entered there with someone of the FC...
That pisses me off. But, in other part, makes more difficult the way of gaining commendations, and.... That's challenging.
Commendation system in my opinion is the biggest anti-troller utility of the game, and also it is rewarding to obtain few of them when you tank or heal, makes you still want to use those roles.
Edit: What Mschiggs-san said...It was planned for 2.3 to allow people do roulette together, also can queue while chocobo is summoned. So far that's the only interesting thing I know coming in 2.3 and that will improve a lot the quality game... Who knows, maybe they also solve this issue with commendations.

I always run in parties too, and when I get a comm, I feel bad because I'm not able to give one back. I'd definitely like to see the aforementioned changes implemented.

My FC members and myself when get a good tank or healer, we would like to be able to commend them 110%.
It shouldn't be hard to have the system know that my friends and I when we joined in should not be able to game the commendation system and commend each other.
And it is really make me feel bad, when I get a commendation and they did NOT when they really did deserve it more.
A simple solution would be to have a commendable bit mask, a whole whopping byte for 8 players. The player that join in as party, will have the commendable bit set to false. And that means I would forgo the possibility of getting commended because I was already in party, but in exchange I can comment random that join us in the instance.

Sadly it my not be that easy. When we join a DF it splits all the people up and places them on the server for the dungeon then recreates the group. If that information isn't passed from one server to another, they have no way of knowing who came from where. It would be possible to send that data with the players, but programming it might be a trail and so it takes time, if they are even looking into something like that.

but if it can recognise a party surely it could recognise other things

This would be very nice, and still optional. I hope they allow us to vote for players who where not in our pre-formed group. :)

Maybe they could not only allow you to comment others but also detect the ones that came in a party. That way the system would have it easier for know who can't vote who...
So, how? Similar to the alliances when you join to a CT, that autoassings you in one. Here in the party made it would be similar but using any other thing. For example, imagine a dungeon of 4 people, two groups of two premade persons. It would show for example that both DPS entered there in a premade party by showing their name in the same color in the party list, green for example. While the healer and tank have other color showing they were from another premade.
Of course, this distinction could be something else, not only the color name, it could be just to share a symbol aside of the name, a little bar with a color aside of the class icon... Options are too many...So if Square Enix is able to detect the groups of premade, they are also able to allow you to vote everyone except those who share your premade... It is basically a classic "if / else" ...
If the partyset is not the same than own, then put the available command/method/option for vote, else no.

This is being addressed, possibly in 2.3, not sure, but we have already had a dev response to this very topic. They are looking to allow us to do it, which is good as I'm quite often teamed up and sometimes you do come across nice people that you'd commend if you could!
