Hear me out! FATES/Atmas - Thread 1000000

Before you judge the thread just hear me out for a second.

This farming for the Atmas, I can understand it, I can see the need for some players to enjoy the grind and the time they can spare to farm four hours on end.

I would even do it myself except for the part where I feel the current system is flawed, 2 Atmas in and I don't even know how many hours later anymore my gripe comes from the blindness of the quest itself.

We are to follow blindly to these zones to farm for Atma based on a very low % in a RNG.

This is utterly silly, I am that small percentage of players that are stuck currently, while I enjoy the game and want to succeed. I am stuck with a Zenith and nothing else, I am unable to get into successful groups to upgrade my weapon and as a result I need a more casual approach to upgrading my weapon. Unfortunately, I no longer have a lifestyle that can devote more than a couple hours a day with the occasional full day of game time on weekends. Why would I do that wasting it farming FATES and not really getting anything (except for the small possibility of a lucky streak, I might as well go get hit by lightning).

Why I would have much rather have farmed a dungeon 100 times each for an item that may drop at the end to combine for the Animus than to do what is currently in game.

The carrot on the stick is needed for this, but we have absolutely nothing to grade our progress on unless we actually get a drop. I wish that I had to farm 100 fates in a zone and then on FATES 100 got the drop and it was tracked in the achievement window than do what we're doing right now.

At least I could track my progress and give myself incentive to continue. Seeing the goal and just expecting to get there some day is a lot different than seeing the path you walk on and the progress you're making. I don't mind things being hard, I mind things feeling complicated for no reason.

Anyway, I may have ranted a bit, but if this gets traction I will clarify anything as the thread goes on.

I understand you man. I like RNG, I liked it in FFXI. Having a low percentage drop rate for awesome end game gear is good in my book. What I don't like is the RNG being tied in with "Low-Level FATEs" is just boring. I do them because I "have" to do them. I know the hot phrase "You may not like it but other people do". Do you really think that most people really enjoy mindlessly spamming FATEs to only get 1 300 FATEs in?
Do most players like to not know when they will be able to progress to the next stage?

I don't like doing them ( so just don't do them right?) Well it turns out in the end I have to do them to get the best weapon in the game when 2.0 is at it's end.

All I am asking for is a more forgiving RNG drop rate ( instead of 1-3% how about 10-13%). My Personal Opinion.

Seriously... They are going to nerf the Atma rng soon enough so that the people upset with the grind will be appeased.

Then the people who want a grind will be mad and they will get appeased when 2.3 comes out and another grind is implemented.


Then the peolle who don\\'t like to grind and they will need to adjust for them.

Seriously, there are 10 trillion atma threads already, square has no doubt been aware of the demand for better drops. We don\\'t need anymore.

We all understand the frustration of not getting rewarded for your time as quickly as you want (which I think is kinda BS) but we all went through the same thing. Some people are still on atma weapon 1 some people are having a blast getting atma weapon 2 or 3.

I think most of us are trying to get them to realize that they need to stop thinking with the mentality to hold people down through content walls, lock outs, and a low RNG just to add "longevity of subscribers" to the game.

It's the old saying you get what you pay for, I am not quite getting what I am paying for, but I do believe in the product and as a result will continue paying them, but they aren't using my money wisely. So what do you do?

I just wish they'd stop taking such a blatant abuse of developmental power and just make content entertaining rather than obviously leading us on through these senseless hoops. Give me a carrot ona stick, but just like watching your XP numbers crawl as you level up, let me see progress in a somewhat tangible form.

In their eyes what they are doing works for you then, if they can put something like this in as a giant time sink, and you continue to pay, why wouldn't they keep doing this. One quest that uses existing content that keeps people busy for weeks, or give you a quest you can complete in a day or two with completely new content, it is more profitable for them to do it like they currently are. Things like this, selling extra retainers, then whining about not having server space to expand housing, and not fixing the chocobo companion system because they can't afford to devote the resources to them is acceptable in their eyes as long as people keep paying.
