Which potion/ether/elixir is the best?

I have tried to figure this out, but I can't brain, so maybe someone else already has...

Which potion/ether/elixir is the best to use considering HP/MP recovery with recast time and also maybe cost? :)

The recast time for medicine is the same across all items. (I think)

Nope. Elixirs require significantly longer recast timers.

That said, I believe there is no difference between types of items - so all status heals have the same timer; all HP heals have the same timer; all elixirs have the same timer; etc.

This is wrong actually. Mega and X Ethers for example. Base for Mega is 4 minutes, 5 minutes for X Ether. Shorter with HQ. This applies to potions and elixirs as well(Not the same time as the ethers, but the difference between the tiers if you will).

In my humble opinion normal HP potions/MP ethers/HP-MP elixirs is completely wast of space for high level (when You have over 4k MP for example), very few hundred MP with this recast times is useless. Better use this recasts to buffing Your stats with potentials or inflict status effects with status potions.

Item level 70 X-Potion is the King with 520/650 HPs and under 2 minut recast time but forget about mass craft it. Better to get luck drop from Amdapor Keep, Coperball Mines (hard), Chamber of Horrors or for reward from lvl 50 few main story quests if You take time to see what offer and dont take allagans in rush.

Hi elixir can be life saver every?: 7 minuts?

Maybe Dusken Draught for Storms can be life saver with 360 HP and 1.20 recast but is Unique untradable... = once

For low levels yes is usefull and life saver with good rotation of cross-class healing skills. Hi potions and Hi elixirs best recast/price like.

I can make ~99 HQ Hi-Elixir/X-Ether/X-Potion in ~30 minutes. They do have uses, it just depends on the job. ie when healing in the new content, I don't really use mind pots because heal amount is fine, but having a bit extra mp here and there is useful.

HI-ETHER
MP :NQ =3mn +28%(+120) // HQ =2mn42 +35%(+160)

MEGA -ETHER

HI-ELIXIR
HP : NQ= 7mn30 +24%(+560)
MP : NQ= 7mn30 +20%(+460)

POTION
HP : NQ=1mn +32%(+80) // HQ=54s +40%(+100)

HI-POTION
HP : NQ=1mn +32%(+170) // HQ=54s +40%(+220)

MEGA -POTION
MP : NQ= 1mn30 +28%(+330) // HQ =1mn21 +35%(+420)

X-POTION
HP : NQ=2mn +24%(+520) // HQ=1mn48 +30%(+650)

all has it uses.
For MP management it depends on length of fight less than 5mn Hi or Mega ethers, more it is the elixirs.
(X potions are very expensive in materials)

EDIT : correction Mega ether to use potion to recast a Flare quickly due quantity MP restored and cooldown you can use more often. :)

Just a correction: Ethers and Hi ethers do not give enough mp return from 0 to cast flare.

But I do always keep lots of HQ mega etheron my BLM for this purpose. They offer the lowest recast (at 3m 36 sec) on a recovery item that gives enough MP to cast flare from 0.

While Poison Pots are very useful indeed, Ethers are also extremely helpful when attempting to push content that strains your mana pool. Similar to Shroud of Saints, you don't want to wait for the "oh shit" moment before you use it. Instead, pop an x-ether at 80% MP. Soon as the cooldown is back up, pop it again. And again.
