Anyone know if there is a way to search for a Free Company from inside the game and apply to it without the need to search for an online player of that FC? If the answer is no, is this option going to be added in the future?

i would LOVE to see this. maybe we would actually see some applicants in our list. lol T_T
I don't think there's really a way to search for FCs in-game, and I wish there were.
If the FC has a house, you can bring up the FC info at their house's placard, and apply from there. Otherwise, if they don't have a house, the only other way I know of is, as you mentioned, to find someone from that FC who's online at the time.
even a Submit Application feature through the Lodestone would be acceptable. :)
