I just started out on Zodiark and I noticed that the community isn't helpful unless you can produce money. I asked for help on egg quest and was declined even with a 5k/10ktip. I upped the tip to see if they would help and It was at 100k that I was only going to get help unless I paid upfront.
Pay Upfront meaning they would scam me. I'm not stupid.
Just shows how difficult it is with high levels and if this even was to help the community it is a souring experience.
Did you shout/yell for help? I find it hard to believe nobody would help you run a pretty quick quest for free. Unless your server is way different than Behemoth.
Get a friend to go with you. Considering that they don't actively have to be holding the egg at the same time you do (so a friend who beat the event can still help you), you can still get away with it just fine.
What do high levels have to do with it on Zodiark of all places? Anyone expecting that kind of gold from people on a brand new server is just stupid.
Haven't seen anything of the sort on Gilgamesh. I did every leg of the event with some random person through shouts. Never saw anyone offering or asking for gil.
Did shout and yell even have been in PF for awhile. My FC is brand new has only ~ low levels and requires a lvl 40 to assist. ;(
I honestly do not see how or why anyone would need to charge for the event, especially since it is relatively so little time and work. The quest requires you to work in pairs anyway, so it should be fine just to find someone else who needed the quest.
Oh! Right, the last two legs requires a level 40 for the helmet one partner has to wear, and there aren't many of those on Zodiark. So there are some opportunistic d-bags. Got it.
Only thing I can say is don't offer gil at all. That'll just give ideas to people who might not have those ideas otherwise. The more people shouting about doing it for free, the more that will seem like the norm. The more people shouting about gil, the more that'll seem like the norm. And if you or anyone you know can get to the point where you can be the level 40, help other people for free, vocally, a lot, and you'll crash the market in a hurry.
I remember egg-trading events in FFXI with the same sort of opportunism. Those markets crashed within hours most of the time.

Just a heads up, the last part begins today and requires a party of 4 including 1 lvl 40 character. If you think 2 is tough, try getting 4. The event ends on 4/22/14, hopefully, enough people will be lvl 40 before that on the new servers.
I managed to get it done. There was a FC group on my server of all the lvl 40s that was known with that one guy who was a jerk to me. Though one of the members, decided to help me even though their FC ridiculed me for this post. So I will send my thanks to that player, even though they had to do it sneakily about. ^^
