Why was this game merged with both pc and console together? I ask because the more I play this game and learn I find its the pc community doing all the dirty work. Pc is littered with cheating tools bots and whatnot that taint the game, ps3/4 has none of this, so why do console players have to play along side of them? Let them cheat mess up their economy or whatever else they do on their own server while we play a balanced game on our server.
PC and PS3/PS4 versions were never 'merged' - cross-platform servers have been that way since the beginning. And FFXI was the same (in fact, FFXI was the very first cross-platform MMO).
And before you pass judgement a creative coder/hacker can create hacks and tools for consoles as well, although it's very fiddly, it's definitely possible. Really, no one will ever be able to fully stamp out RMT/botting 100% - they can make it harder to use/implement via game design, but the RMT and botters will just find more creative ways to get around it. It's a vicious cycle.
Yeah I would not doght someone could "Hack" a ps4 if they tried hard enough but it would take many months or years before that happens and even then only a small minority would know how, pc different story. Back in September during beta was the first time I ever played with pc players and the majority of them came off really rude and looked down on console players and I was also introduced to the whole Rtm thing. The first shout I ever saw was a rtm shouting, immediately followed by about 100000x more lol, as dcuo was my previous game this was a new one for me. After researching a bit I found pc had allsorts of "tools" lol and it almost made me quit playing as whats the point you know, but if they did or had split servers the console side would be far more balanced, but props to Ffxiv for banning alot of them. So yeah I'm a bit bias I just hate cheating as it ruins games and enjoyment
Of all the things that bug me RMT is no longer one of them. i really only have to blacklist 2-3 people per week now. As far as cheating goes i have never encountered someone cheating/hacking in a way that affects me. Someone actually applauded my dps because they were running a "tool". If they split everything it would be twice the work for them. cross-platform enables them to cater to both, and i feel they do a very good job.
Also i have rarely run into the pcmasterrace>PSscum debate. i know plenty of people that play ps3/4 and do a dam good job. You will really only get that debate when you are just starting out and figuring stuff out. After you get used to it its almost like your playing PC (yes i have played on PS so i know its not too difficult :P )
Yeah I love this game it just rubs me wrong knowing people actually put in work while some cheat it just ruins the spirit of the game. Back in September I witnessed cheat bots on a regular basic it was quite funny as most of them were underneath the ground and magically teleporting node to node lol. I have heard of that tool or whatever to show peoples damage and wonder what else they have I mean the possibilitys seem limitless. I guess one big reason is for months before the release I had planned on making a fortune mining.... Guess that dream is gone
