Maybe you need to perform the ritual in the legendary Chocobo Forest where all the legendary chocobos are located from Gold Chocobos, Black Chocobos, White Chocobos, Silver Chocobos, and all kind of never before seen Chocobos live.
You're missing a key ingredient. You need more crystals.
Maybe they didn't eat enough.

We tried this on Saturday for Godbert Helidor Maximilian Manderville and were met with similar results. I'm pretty sure we had the crystals. I think there is a bug in the game's coding.
