Binding Coil of Bahamut - Turn 2 Question (???)

I'm sure the fact that I am even asking this question will be answer enough for some - but I've been noticing on my server I see a lot of Binding Coil of Bahamut farming groups that specify that they do not want a SMN.

Can anyone shed some light on why exactly? I haven't run this myself - I've watched the videos but I have not been able to get into a PUG to go on my server and have heard I'd be wasting my time trying to use the DF... :confused:

I can't see why someone wouldn't want a SMN in their party. The only time I've seen a party not allowing SMN's is when they're not allowing a BLM either, usually due to the fact that a SMN or BLM was part of the original group who started the party and they want to avoid competition on their loots. I could just be missing something though.

In thinking loot competition too, I could be wrong though.

As my second job is BLM with Turns 2 and 4 dropping the majority of gear I want to target 1st I might just block you too :)

^ It probably has to do with the caster loot. A lot of good caster pieces drop in turn 2. Odds are those parties already had 1 that didn't want to roll against another caster.

The loot thing is a good callout. I didn't really think of it that way...

Another possible reason could be the Enrage method allot of people are using. I notice the SMN pet dying a lot which would cut down on their damage while gone or being resummoned.

Enrage with 10% echo is pretty hard not to win. But yes, if you go the piercing route, you cut down on magic.

If you're going it normal, then a smn might be bad in terms of burn rate. though I don't think anyone would attempt to kill the rot until 20% honestly.

Yeah was farming it all day for caster gloves and someone joined in and on their 1st run, with ilvl 73 gear, got the gloves I wanted. Was disheartened.
