Let's get some love for the healers!

Sometimes, when I am bored, I like to take a break from my usual dps or tanking and level as a healer. And you know what I've realized?

Healing isn't easy. It's simple in earlier levels, but higher up? Last night while playing Scholar, I really began to appreciate just how much a healer needs to do to keep everybody alive, managing heal potency and enmity generation, placing that fairy, keeping on top of status effects, making sure you've always got line of sight...

It's hard work, and I feel like a lot of players just throw commendations at tanks for doing their job while not really appreciating just how hard a healer works to keep everybody alive and in the fight. I know I've been guilty of it in the past.

So let's get a healer appreciation thread going! Ever grouped with a great healer? Got any stories of the healer saving the group? Or just praise for the heals that keep us all in the game? Here's the place to show it. We love you, healers, even if we don't always show it!

One of my shining moments was in turn 4.

Getting to second dread and the other healer went down. Popped a res on him and turned to Benediction the off tank (who was the other healer's assignment). Looked back to the MT who was at about 200 health, had my ohshitohshit reaction just in time to see the healer I just rezzed benediction him.

This all happened in a span of like 5 seconds, I dont think ive clenched harder.

It is a magical thing when the healers are in sync like that. I almost never trust other healers, but there was a white mage in my FC on Leviathan that seemed to read my mind when I was a SCH. It was like.. sudden healer sync

I used to try to be a good healer. As a SCH I'd balance keeping everyone healed while almost always having my best DoTs up on all the monsters to speed up fights, but no one noticed or cared. So now I just let my fairy auto-heal parties while I watch TV! So much better.

Last night in DF got bitched at by the DRG for not DPSing in a dungeon. Pointed out the main reason I wasn't in Cleric Stance DPSing was because the DRG kept attacking the wrong target and getting hate so I had to keep his ass alive most of the fights. At the end DRG said the party sucked and left. Got 2 comms that run :)

I've gotten bitched at FOR DPSing in a dungeon. "Letting (tank)'s HP get too low!"

Tank was way over geared. Literally just needed a stoneskin and regen for each set of trash mobs, 8k+ HP lol. I had more than enough room to DPS.

What is this healer appreciation month??

On WoW, I recently leveled a Disc Priest. Disc Priest's most efficient heals are through DPSing (75% of your damage heals whoever has the lowest HP). We did a boss where the mechanic is that he freezes a person, and the party needs to break that person out. I didn't get broken out, so I couldn't do anything. Tank died. Tank went ballistic on me, saying I didn't cast a single heal and I should queue as a DPS if I want to just cast smite.

About halfway through my response of "I'm a disc priest, that's how I most effectively heal, and I was frozen anyway", he got vote kicked by the others.

I prefer doing speed runs because it means I'm not dpsing as a healer. swapping in and out of cleric stance is annoying, sometimes I don't feel like it and take the damage hit

I used to main as a WHM, but eventually it just wasn't worth it anymore. I found myself more bored and annoyed when healing others and not getting recommendation when I keep everyone alive.

It truly is a challenge to heal.
