Needing some answers to major issues ingame.

No clue how to start this but I have played too many online games to list. Basically this game is going down hill. There are a few reasons I say this, These quick fix patches to minor bugs are starting to overlap each other. In other words you can't fix the actual problem because you wrote knee jerk reaction quick fix patch without thinking it through them pumped another right after it. Picture it as a ball of duct tape, not joking here but a ball of duct tape. Once one layer is applied to the core it is not stuck there unless you place another layer of duct tape on top of it. So you write a knee jerk reaction quick fix without thinking it through then move on then one to four weeks later you realise you overlooked something and you can't actually fix it anymore without affecting other aspects of the game that are attached to the knee jerk reaction code. So if you could explain the logic of pumping out patches that have not been thought through over and over and over and over till it is a huge ball of duct tape please do.

Anima, for one it doesn't regenerate fast enough for someone playing all the time. So you run out or you have way too much. maybe scale it to speed up while online? Please no knee jerk reaction patches due to anything stated in this post.

Lastly I don't get the logic of having rank 40 camps way far apart from each other while the lower rank ones are clustered to where you can stack them. The exp pool is larger at higher levels so explain the logic of only 3 leves for a rank 40 leve location way out in the middle of no where near another rank 40 leve location. If I want to run 8 leves I have to use in theory 4 anima for two camps = 8, then 3 to port to new city = 11, then 4 to port to another camp = 15 then, 3 to port back to ul dah because every other city is dead = 18. Anima generated per day = 6, leves are on 36 hour cycle, 36/4 = 9. I can't play every other day and still be able to skill my class without running out of anima. So explain that logic please. thanks.

Just to say something Anima is only use for casual players who don't have much time to play which then = they get Anima back faster due to them playing less so they stay around 50+ Anima. Now if your hardcore player and playing 8hour a day doing crafting leves + guildleves and many other stuff then you have to walk all over the world to get the best leves,marks and so on. Due to this the idea was for you to walk which really does not take you long when they release chocbos and airship it would fix this issue.

leves would be nerf so it be more solo play and they would release quest hubs / dungeon to level up. Top of that they said they going to release way for you to level up by killing mobs outside city but i guessing that part wont happen to the map fix.

The game is not going down hill at all it starting to pick up really ;)

theres only two camps to do rank 40 leves at unless you're talking about local levels. Battle class, you should only be doing 3 levels from Broken Water and 1 from Iron Lake really. But on local leves, they are making this better you will going to whatever city you're guild is in, since we're both weavers here, I'll say uldah, and you'll only do leves in uldah to receive guildmarks, my thing though is this might not help how crappy the amount of leves you have to do past 30 are, and I would hope they'd correct that too.

Frankly most people that left the game can be enticed to come back really REALLY easily. The main thing keeping people away is the stupid amount of running that you have to do to get anywhere. Don't talk to me about teleporting or any of that nonsense, the most important thing they should do is release traveling methods, in fact they should have done this about four months ago, but they've been puting it off thinking that it's not a huge deal when actually 99.9% of the people that play this game have played other mmo's, I can't really think of that many that don't realize that traveling is very important to the actual people playing their game. They can release all the patches in the world to make new jobs and improve battle, but I know many people that simply will not play a game with no transportation other then cheesy teleporting that even the worst free to play mmo in the world has... No mounts = No subscribers because walking just isn't cool at all, it never was. I congradulate the team so far for all their hard work, but they have epically dropped the ball on the one thing that people in ffxi were like 'omfg sweet, i'm gunna switch games cuz that's so cool!' idea of having personal airships and chocobos are just a lmfao easy staple to the game. They don't even have to think, just put the bloody birds in the game already, at this point noone really cares about what kind of interesting clever way they want to put them in. If they want money for this game to roll in they need to add them, it's as simple as that, and it was always as simple as that.

I know things are coming and huge fixes are being released all the time, ff14 is a far cry from where it was at the beginning of 2011, but some really easy fixes have been completely forgotten. We want chocobos, we want companies, we want personal airships, we want to see Eorzea in cool and interesting ways, we want to be the hero of our own story and until they can make those simple foundation ideas come to life, the game will continue to feel like lemonade without the lemons...just a bland game that people quickly loose interst in. Please don't write back with stuff like 'Well it's coming soon' I know it is, but I'm just saying why people have so much trouble liking this game.

I also want to talk about the lack of jobs, i know the new update will bring around alot of new jobs, but I think they need to take a look at some other mmo's (yes i know this ISN"T other mmo's, it's its own thing, but other mmo's are their competitors and to beat ur competetors you have to see what other mmo's have done correctly). FF14 needs pets, I can't think of many mmo's without some sort of pet specific job, it's practically unheard of in a fantasy game and specifically in a final fantasy game. It also needs summons, which I'm sure are coming...eventually...years from now. It needs Bards, this is a quick fix to make things fun again, bards always make a game more fun. I'm not telling SE anything they don't already have experience with, in FFXI these simple jobs made vanadiel great, so great that people prefer ffxi over ff14 because the lack of those fun jobs to play. Tell me, who on earth would want to play a game that gave them less enjoyment over a previous game.

There needs to be some more playable races, the character creation tool is really one of the best I've ever encountered in any mmo period. We need some more races, there are several races in game which would make for great playable races, such as the dudes with the horns on their heads...i forget their name atm. If the game really wants to break away and make a ton of money, which is really the entire point, they need to add PvP as well. It was a weakness that hindered FFXI from the beginning and if they had allowed PvP between nations from the start that game could have beaten WoW in the number of subscribers. If they can attract just a small percentage of the wopping 11 million players of WoW just because they have a PvP system in place, then they should make some nice $$$. WoW has a lame story, as does FF14 so far, why not compensate by some fun PvP, it worked for WoW and tons of other mmo's out there as well. (I hate WoW by the way, i'm just saying, from a business standpoint you really can't deny that PvP made wow and can attract customers). New evil races of course can mean new lands and finally give FF14 the voice it deserves, as a unique gaming experience and seperate it from the exact same races of ffxi, which has kind of hindered the game thus far. Can you imagine, company battles between good and bad company alliances having a massive airship war. On the ground a fierce battle waging between the good and bad factions, then having characters launch from the ground in their own personal airships to join the fight overhead. Obviously that was what we were all thinking about when we watched the beginning video of ff14. That should most deffinately be their goal, I really hope it is, their first major expansion should revolve around pvp faction warfare. Heck with that kind of battle system in place you would attract players from eve, wow, ffxi, and pretty much all the other mmo's. The coding would be intense as it would be necessary to pretty much double the size of ff14 by adding at least 3 major cities and lots of other races. Mechanics and other such jobs such as chocobo knights etc would be possible. Most ffxi fans have been dreaming of chocobo knights since FFX where we got to witness one. There are so many possibilities for this kind of gameplay, there are 11 million WoW players right now searching for a new mmo to sink their teeth into cuz they are bored of WoW, lets make sure that game is FF14!

Travel methods is not the answer in my opinion, kind of skipped a lot of what I was intending to get across. These patches ARE overlapping this is not a minor issue. Every game that I played that turned into a ball of duct tape quick fixes flopped. plain and simple. I think the best example of this is AoC, the game was broken, yet a blast to play. They listen to people that want every game to be like WoW. they lost 80% of subs and the game is crap to due to lack of funding and population. I played wow for a while. It really is a great game just not my cup of tea so when they apply aspects of wow to their game it kills the reason I am playing their game instead.

If they intend for the player that plays a lot to run all over while the casual player can just port I guess they just want the casual player and not the person that is actually allowing the casual player access to better gear, materials, repairs and groups. This whole casual vrs hardcore is insane if you are paying to play a game which this eventually will be there should be no limitations or punishments based on the amount of time you spend playing the game.

Casual players don't stick around point blank. If they are casual they are not invested in the game and if and when they get frustrated they are more likely to go to a different game. There are so many online games right now that this is a major factor. This isn't back when you had uo. eq, daoc. There are tons of games and options.

The statement where 99% will come back easily I think is wrong. I have heard this before. From my view point if I quit a game for a month and play something else the first week is crappy then you get into it and like it better. Why go back to plucking your head bald when you are happy where you are.

End statement I think maybe this game is not for me. I like to be able to play with no limitations or punishments based on the amount of time I spend playing. Surplus, Anima, lack of listening to people that play a lot, knee jerk reaction patches that overlap, and general lack of foresight on their actions and this is what you get. A dead game where everyone is in one city burnt out from doing the same crap over and over and over.

I never said 99.9% will come back...I said 99.9% have played other mmo's, they are mature players. I said many people could be enticed to return to XI if they had transportation methods available (I'm speaking of my entire XI Linkshell of over 200 members would switch over or at least most of them say they would (67%), I did a poll). Also 2/3 of your original post was about the inconvenience of transportation and your gripes with having to spend so much on anima, so how can you say you don't agree with fixing transportation when you complain about it to begin with and mark it as one of your two big issues with the game. Just because I don't touch on one of your problems doesn't mean that I skipped over it, I read it completely and tried to solve one of your problems, which was transportation. I don't like the teleportation anima system at all, I think it's a huge eye sore, so I didn't want to sit there and discuss ways of fixing it, when I believe it's unfixable because it ruins the whole having to travel thing, which every player should go through, even if they've been everywhere. I personally don't want a free pass to teleport everywhere in the world. I want to utilize different methods to get there.

People really do want transportation methods and until they do add them people will not return. The entire teleportation system is a poor system to begin with, it feels like it was just a filler until they could think of something better. I can't stand Teleporting all over the place. It worked in XI because it was teleporting to hard to get areas only and you still had to employ several means of travel to get somewhere. Honestly, though, I'd rather get somewhere by riding a chocobo, or hopping on an airship or any number of other ways, anything but stupid mindless teleportation, it's way overused in the gaming industry. A little inconvenience is actually a good thing.

Well, I think you should at least check out ff14 after the 1.18 patch, which will dramatically change the entire game in every single aspect. As for Knee-Jerk reactionary patches go, ya I see where you're coming from, but they had to lay the ground work for something big and that's hard to do on a crumbling foundation. Eventually people from XI will come to this game simply because it is a new game, hopefully when they do decide to move, they will come to ff14 (not like there's any other choices that are even remotely similar to FFXI anyways) and stay. I'm hoping they can start introducing fun content to attract people and alleviate the repetitive actions.

I couldn't agree with you more though about the casual players. Why this game was built around casual players is beyond my comprehension. The whole point is to attract good hardcore players to show casual players just what can be accomplished if they put the time into it, which is something XI excelled at tremendously. Any mmo creator knows this, it's just common sense. Now, I'm not saying go all hardcore like FFXI was, to the point that it scared people from joining, but a nice middle ground would be nice. They are setting return cost to 0 anima, so it'll be easier to get around for free, but honestly the whole idea of Anima really turns me off and I'd love to just see it abolished.

The patch where they add mounts will fix much of the Anima issue. Anima was originally designed for, yep, casual players. Mounts are supposed to be for people that want to conserve Anima, but we don't have those. Not saying it doesn't suck, but you're assuming that Anima is supposed to be the central method of transportation, which is what Mounts are supposed to be for.

Also, your math is only correct if you're soloing all your leves. If you party, it's different because not all your parties are going to make you use all your anima to teleport everyone every single time. If you split that 9 anima up by party members, you're really only using less than 2 Anima per member.

But anyways, the problem isn't that Anima regenerates too slow, it's that mounts aren't released yet.
