I'm on a PC, and every time I try to get the launcher to ... launch so I can play the game, I always get the following message:
"A system error has occurred: -2146697211.
http://frontier.ffxiv.com/arr_win/index/html?rc_lang=en-us&time=2014-04-09-00"
And then it shuts down after I hit OK.
Specs on my PC are not a problem. Been running the game without a hitch until tonight.

I know this is a pain the butt - but can you run the game on a friends network? Just take your network out of the equation so we can narrow down the problem. And yes, network issues can happen suddenly.
Same thing just started for me.. tried to start client to see if maybe maint was done early, it updated the launcher and now I get that err code and it shuts down. Hopefully it'll fix itself when maint is over <_<
