All crafting jobs 50 and looking at some input on what to do next.

I'm sitting on about a 4.5 mil cushion at the moment. It's not a lot, but it's something and I'm at a fork in deciding what to do. Basically, I have two options and am looking for some input.

Option 1 -

I drop the majority, if not all of my funds into transitioning out of my maxed out Patrician's set. This would involved max-melding a whole new set. I would assume that this would likely leave me with little to no left over gil. The biggest problem I have with this option is, while some of the new 3 star crafting jobs are selling well, the profit margins will likely close rapidly just as the 2 star market did. It's a lot of risk for potentially decent gain.

Option 2 -

I save my money and go back to spiritbonding and crafting HQ offhands/crafting sets as I did before. With the new three star recipes and the massive rush to max out crafting gear, the profits for these will likely remain high for quite some time. While I won't be selling anything for a mil or two, I feel like the profit potential without completely wrecking my gil cushion

TLDR : Should I dump all my funds into trying to craft 3 star HQ or save my gil and spiritbond and craft HQ offhand tools and crafting sets.

All i can really say is, did you roll all those DOH classes to make low level gear? Or do you have ambition for more? The Barrier of entry may be high right now (unless you where stockpiling all that materia you where spiritbonding) but its worth it. Waiting would just be delaying the process. imo meld a new set.

Choose a DOH Main and go for it. Start by melding that 1 class's set. I can't see it costing more than 100-200k if you have some of the materia already. Once you gain that class' i70 tool it will make all your previous recipes a joke (if they werent already). Once you have recovered your investment, start melding a 2nd class (theres no rush to get all 8 classes 3star ready). With the new tools you will also be able to easily HQ 40 Durability 2Star recipes like "Vanya Silk" or "Rose Gold Ingots" and sell them for a high profit (80-100k on my server) to other crafters who are trying to obtain their master books.

No matter how you look at it, its an investment in yourself. imo you cant go wrong with that.

No matter what path you pick you should at least consider upgrading to your Artisan Glasses as you already have Culinarian levelled to 50. Cooking Sherry sells for 10 bottles per 2500 seals so you can make 5 HQ servings of sauteed coeurl for 1% of the price it costs for any other craft.

(Also you can just edit your original post to get around the 1000 character limit.)

Definitely start with 1 class. In my experience melding was very expensive, and making the 50 HQ items is tedious. I had a pile of materia, but I valued the cost of melding one set at current prices near 700k. The next set I got very lucky and was way lower.

As far as HQ 3 stars - think about baby steps;
1) To make the items to get the master book it's best to have the best available gear.
2) To get the new mainhands you'll actually need that gear just to reach the stat minimums.
3) To craft HQ 3 stars you'll need HQ materials, which means you will need more than 1 master DoH... (alchemy for just about everything?)

SO; figure out what 3 star stuff you might want to make, and which master DoHs that requires. I did alc first (least tedious 50 items to make?), then wvr (seems very tedious by comparison). Profit magins are huge, but sales are few and far between. Supply of materials and finished products is low. I'm uncomfortable with the market, but confident it will pay off.

Really? I heard that ALCH was the most annoying due to the fact we cant HQ Vitrioil. Does the 2 HQ Rocksalt make up for the loss in base quality?

I liked Alc's spirit of salt because it's a one step process. I do not like Wvr's silver brocade because you have to make a silver ingot, and 2 twinthreads (which require crystals not shards), then the silver brocade. I had 2 silver brocades come out NQ when the quality was at 92% and 96... I found it extremely frustrating that even with the extra effort of 3 HQ crafted materials it was not 100%. Failing at spirit of salt was much less demoralizing; "oh well I need to gather/buy more salt". You can get 10 HQ volcanic rock salt every time, and I happened to have a stack, and the gold to buy more.

50 silver brocades = 100 twinthread, 50 silver ingot = 200 crawler cocoon (gather or MB), 100 effervescent water (gather or MB), 300 lightning crystals, 150 silver ore (gather or MB)
50 spirits of salt = 100 volcanic rock salt (gather or MB), 50 vitriol (vendor or MB)

TLDR: If you don't mind buying the HQ mats for brocades, then sure, they'd be easier.

Makes sence when you break it all down like that. Thankfully i'm a 2star miner so the rocksalt won't be an issue. thx for the info

So it sounds like your crafting classes are all lvl 50... yet youre using a Patricion set. First thing you want to do is focus on one class and get the HQ i55 set. I DO RECOMMEND you start with your best accessories as they can be used by all classes across the board. You need to use your materia to meld (and possibly overmeld) you gear. Again, start with your accessories.

Getting to lvl 50 is half the battle
