Nothing like re-reading "The Crystal Shard" during my lunch break at work, and reading the description of Bruenor's creation of Aegis-Fang to make me want to take up crafting in-game! haha.

It's the fourth book (first to be released though) of the "Legend of Drizzt" series by R.A. Salvatore. It's based off Dungeons & Dragons lore. The scene I'm referring to is a really great one in which one of the main characters crafts what becomes a legendary war-hammer called Aegis-Fang. it's just this particular scene always makes me want to do some in-game crafting. Really great series! I'd highly recommend it!
I love the Drizzt series, although I stopped reading somewhere around The Pirate King.
When Bruenor crafts Aegis-Fang.... it's just so awesome. I have always felt that an MMO should allow a maxed-out crafter to create ONE item that will be considered his/her "masterpiece." To be able to determine what the stats will be (with certain limitations put in place, of course), give the item a name that everyone will see, and be able to create the appearance using lots of small pieces (maybe kinda like gummi ships on Kingdom Hearts).
Maybe they could make it so that this masterwork item would upgrade as the wielder does.
I could throw ideas around about this all day long :P
I love crafting in this game I'm sure you will too. There's nothing like drinking morning tea while you're set up to auto craft a stack of 99 items. It feels like you're doing something while chilling. Kind of like starting your dishwasher and then just relaxing =)
(ok the latter one was meant to sound cool but I realize that it might be just a personal thing =D )
