I wish there was some kind of guarantee. Like, maybe FATEs drop Atma tokens and after so many, you can go buy an Atma. Maybe make it cost 40-50 tokens per Atma. You still have a chance for RNG to be kind and give you an Atma, but if not, you at least know you're not going to be farming the same area for 35 hours.
Overall, I don't think it was a bad idea, but not implemented as well as it should have been. Some people have gotten lucky, others haven't. I've spent maybe 25-30 hours (maybe more) so far, and I have 7/12, but a good 8-9 of those hours has been in Upper La Noscea, and that one still hasn't dropped.
I think the Atmas from FATEs are a good idea, however..

This has been said over and over again in various ways.
I think it's cool that there's long term content now. But like everyone here the random element sounds like a bad implementation for the system.
I just hope they don't just make it a 100% drop by the time I get there. I for one would love to grind that. But playing lottery with it doesn't sound like appealing progression to work towards. -

btw, Upper La Noscea is easiest to get (by experience) if you're on the opposite side to the Aetheryte~ so head there from Western La Noscea.
