How to get atma drops.
The reasons people leave FATEs early is because the only factor for getting an atma to drop is participation.
Not gold.
Not kills.
Not time invested.
You can even die, home point, come back to the zone before the fates end, and still get credit for the fate (and therefore chance for atma).
All this whining on this forum is completely pointless. Just deal with it.

I really don't understand the sentiment. I could see if, for some reason, you actually liked this system and didn't want it to change, but the forums are for feedback and many people dislike the system. SE doesn't seem at all receptive to these complaints, but voicing concern is the primary way of telling them that we'd like some kind of change. Saying it's pointless and to just deal with it would just result in SE being even less likely to make any change. Also, the situation would be even worse if everyone ran around tagging one mob and leaving a FATE. Every FATE would just time out eventually and you'd get credit, but it would bottleneck new FATEs from appearing.

i never asked it but i heard that many people asked for open world content for 2.2 and SE chose the worst way possible to provide it... fact is we are talking about hours of gameplay here. i am working 8 hours a day and i have 4-5 hours of freetime... at any case i would not dedicate them for farming atmas. i started to farm 1 hour/day but i will propably grow white hair before that...

So even if a fate fails and regardless of level of achievement you will get a chance to get an atma? Even for fates that you have to level sync and stay in the area to get the fate complete/failed dialogue?

I can confirm having left a fate, undone level sync, and still received Atma. Can't confirm about less-than-gold rating or failed FATE giving Atma.

i can confirm less then gold, i had all mine in first 2 days and all i had to do was overpower/quicknock/flash whatever a big group and move to next fate
