Atma and RNG

I play on 2 accounts. I have been farming Atma for myself and my girlfriend on her character. I decided to pull an all nighter and here's how last night went:

My Character: 32 hours of straight grinding yielded me 5/12 Atma. Still in Summerford farms for about 6 hours now and counting.

My Girlfriends Character: 32 hours of grinding yielded me 10/12 Atma.

My character does countless fates and gets nothing.

My girlfriends character walks into a fate, kills one add, bronze medal, instant Atma.


I would like to know where the "RNG" comes into play for this.

Don't come posting in here snarky comments about "instant gratification" and other such posts. I will report them. Act your age.

if this was true RNG, 2 FC members just got 2 back to back while soloing a fate. RNG? No. There's gotta be something more to this.

Square Enix, especially in their MMOs, is famous for making people say just that.

In reality, it's just simple RNG.

You do understand that RNG is RANDOM. If you asked everyone farming their Atma, you would get an average amount of time it took. Some people might get 1 an hour, some people might get 1 every 24 hours. Your FC members got 2 back to back, you did not. I got 2 in under 30 minutes, an FC member of mine took 10 hours to get 2. It is completely random. There is no way to figure it out. It is the same as to why some people get gear every run of Coil while others have to wait 2 months just to get 1 piece. Random.

Farming Atma's has been about as enjoyable as waterboarding so far. I've lost count of the amount of Fates I've completed before finding a single Atma in an area, and so far despite farming in countless areas for countless hours I've still only managed to obtain 3 of them so far.

Random numbers can work for you, or horribly against you. Sadly, my poor luck in loot rolls seems to have permeated into my luck for getting Atma drops as well, tainting everything with it's evil presence. I just wish there was a cut-off point that says "Hey, she's done about 60 Fates now, let's just give her the Atma" rather than having to grind on with no end in sight.

I roll 2 dice, you roll 2 dice.

You get 2 sixes, I get a 4 and a 2. Is there more to your 2 sixes than luck?

Think I spent under 20 hours to get all mine. Took 3 hours in a few zones and under 30 mins in others. Spent an hour in central shroud one night and how nothing. Wake up the next day and log in to get it on the 1st fate.

Clearly your girlfriend is sleeping with Yoshi-P.
