Just a Random Observation

I just made an interesting observation today about the new High Allagan stuff in comparison to the new Soldiery stuff, and it's correlation (or lack thereof) with first Allagan and Myth gear.

When you compare the first sets that came out at i90 we see that both the Allagan Circle Shield, Onion Shield, and the Holy Shield Zenith are (obviously) all i90, alongside the Break Blade. And the Allagan Blade comes in at i95, as all Allagan weapons did.

The weird thing to me comes with this new patch. The restored Noct Hoplon is sitting at i110, as to be expected, alongside Burtgang and the Tidal Wave Scimitar, but the High Allagan Kite Shield is sitting alongside the High Allagan Blade at i115. Why do you think this is?

It's quite probably they're categorizing off-hand as i115 too.

I don't know if there's any details about WHM/BLM shields too however.

I'm assuming the source of it is the final boss of Coil2 so it has the boosted ilvl, where as Allagan Round Shield was a Turn 1 drop.

I don't think there's any new Black Mage shields, and the White Mage shield is from Leviathan.

It is because a one hand weapon gives less thats than a 2 hander. And the shield is supposed to balance those stats.

So Paladins had a little stat loss because of the weapon being ilvl 95 and the shield being ilvl 90, while for example the warrior had full ilvl 95 stats from the axe.

This is why the new sword and shield now has ilvl 115. :)

Item level is calculated as the sum of your gear's item levels divided by 13 (6 slots on each side and a weapon) 2hand weapons such as bows and lances count their level twice as they fill both hands. If the shield is not 115, then the total maximum ilvl of PLD would be out of balance.

Well the weird thing is, this makes it so that every job will top out at ilvl110 with their 115 weap equipped, but pld will be the only job that hits 111

Would still only be 110.7 (1550/14), and I'm pretty sure iLvL always rounds down.

pretty sure Tidal Wave Scimitar is ilv 100 not 110
