Am I the only one feeling very sad about the "Favour" system being an april fool?

I've always felt that Final Fantasy XIV really needs some romance elements of sort like the Final Fantasy games of old.

While the system described was obviously a bit over the top, I wish they really adopted some kind of concept like that, and I feel very sad that it turned out to be a joke.

I know the feels. I want to be a pokemon master.

Why would that be an april fools joke? That seems like a pretty legit system for a game like FF.

Anything to add some flair to NPC interactions, even if it's not as over the top as the romance system they're obviously fooling around with would be pretty nice. As much as I love nodding stoically in every cutscene some more interaction would be nice. So yeah, I'd like a "tuned down" or less exaggerated version of a system like this in the game. Bit sad that their april fool's joke is probably a better content proposal than some of the real systems in the game :p

The April's fools joke could also just be a way to see how well a system like this would be recieved. You never know.

I won't lie. I would kind of dig that kind of system. But then again I'm the kind of guy who gets a kick out of things like courting in Harvest Moon or playing visual novels.

The thing they proposed in the blog was REALLY over the top. It sounded like something from Mass Effect or Dragon Age.

It would be nice to have more personal interaction with some of the more important NPCs (I wouldn't be on board for Nanamo, since she's a ruler and all) but I'd just prefer some sidequests that shed some more information on some of the backgrounds of each NPC. We already got a taste of this for Thancred in the last main story and we know a little bit about Minfilia already. The rest of the Scions' origins and such are relatively unknown.

Grand Company progression would actually provide a pretty easy avenue into interaction with all the nation leader NPCs, though it does feel weird trying to rationalize the manner in which an April Fools system would work. It'll be hilarious if it actually became a thing (Not in the way described, but something not so over the top).
