Target selecting
Hello, I have a pretty embarrassing question as a low level tank. I am not used to games with a tab-target system--and I find myself with the problem of fighting myself when it comes to the target I want to select. I usually end up cycling through lists by hitting tab until I get to the mob I want, but this creates lots of unnecessary downtime for me and sometimes I end up selecting a mob I don't even see and pulling it.
Is there an effective way for selecting specific targets? I realize this must sound like a silly question. I also do not want to resort to clicking--or is this what everyone does?

I took the target list and put it pretty central on my screen. It really helps for those fights where you need to pick something out of a crowd!

You could click on the targets too (though it would likely be hard and inefficient), but as Naoki_Yoshida said, er, ahem, Jestor Helosian said, use the target list. I play with a controller and selecting targets is hitting left and right on the d-pad until you have the target you want to attack. I usually have no issue at all targeting unless I screw up with marking lol.
EDIT: for those who may forget, April 1st everyone was shown as Naoki_Yoshida.

If you play on pad, holding L1 + Up/Down on the control pad allows you to cycle through targets on the enmity list in the order listed. This lets you easily scroll to any monster that doesn't have a flashing red icon and use provoke/shield lob rather than twisting your camera around trying to find out which mob got loose.

Tab targeting can take time to get use to, but is prob the best way, you can also select an option to highlight the targets when you hoover the mouse over them, and also hotbar the target icons (1,2,3,4 etc) but just need to find a method that suits you, i use tab targeting to help with AoE tanking as well.

It's a big issue in tanking. Tab targeting is limited to enemies in your view, which is both a blessing (it's controllable to some degree) and a curse (when a stray wanders out of view and you can't tell where).
Pointer click-targeting is pretty bad with all the epilepsy-inducing special effects doing a pretty good job of hiding your pointer (especially when you have 5 other people causing sparklegasms all over your primary tank target)
It's something you're going to be fighting quite a bit. I can only imagine how horrid it would be to be playing on a controller and having to contend with the frantic early stages of getting threat.
