25 hours downtime? Hello?

I cannot believe that you require 25 hours to implement patch 2.2. That is ridiculous. I tried connecting and got the update but the game wont allow log ins. I played many MMO's for the last 10 years and have never seen this long for any patch to be implemented.

read the notice again. They are restructuring the Instancing system, hoping to fix specific problems we've been having with it for a couple months now, and they want to run some tests to verify things before going live (I copied the notice below and bolded and italicized the section about it).

[NA] All Worlds Maintenance (Mar. 26-27)

At the following time, in order to implement patch 2.2 as well as adjustments to the instance system, we will be performing maintenance on all Worlds. During this period, FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn will be unavailable.

This maintenance will introduce a new structure to the instance system that automatically adjusts the number of available instances according to the level of congestion. Until now, depending on the time of day, the number of players would become concentrated in certain content, maxing out the number of available instances, resulting in extended waiting times for players despite having a full party. With the implementation of this new system, more players than ever before will be able to participate simultaneously in the same content.

Because the implementation of this new structure will require a modification to the very core of the instance system, much time will be needed for checks and verifications before going live, which is the reason for the extended length of this maintenance.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding.

* The World transfer service will be suspended 24 hours before maintenance begins, and will be unavailable until maintenance has ended.

they do this for all major patches to make sure everything is working correctly before bringing back the servers up. IE wow on a major patch day says they will do it by this time and ends up pushing it back or brings it up without stuff checked with bugs galore so be happy they trying to make sure there are as little bugs as possiable. it will be worth the wait

Actually, they didn't, took less than 22 I think. :p

Last time they said 24 hours but it took them one more. I laughed when I saw the 25 hour notice. Unusual yes but at least they count their experiences in.
