2.2 and gear advice

Okay, so I've been relatively new to pvp. Currently play on my smn (using pve gear) Rank 13 with around 6.7k marks.

My question is, is it even worth buying any pvp gear right now? I try to do rank 40(s) more often than not, but with the iLV increase in 2.2 for PVE gear could the main stats on say an i100-110 item easily outweigh the i90 pvp gear? If so, wouldn't I be better off storing marks as I am, keep working to r30 and then once 2.25 hits buy the new r40 gear? (I might have to spend some marks on an item between now and then if I cap marks.)

If you even want to compete i would start off with the i70 pvp gear, then work your way up to the i90 gear. Around rank 17 you will be full i70 anyways and by rank 22 you will be able to afford some i90 pieces. Morale is the main stat in pvp, so the i90 gear will still be better than the higher end pve gear thats going to be coming out.

in 2.2 the i70 pvp gear prices are dropping and you can start to use i90 pvp gear from rank 20-30. save your marks until 2.2 and splurge on i70 gear.

For certain classes the new i110 will be viable (smn gets focus'd too often to be able to give up morale). If you ever bitched about a mrd killing you in 2gcds, just wait until one of the good ones gets his hands a high allagan axe... pre 2.25 it will be beyond imba

Okay, thanks! I could have sworn i read that part somewhere where they had mentioned lowering the requirements of i90 gear, but didn't see many threads about it. I'll just keep spamming my lv40 pvp fights where pvp gear doesn't make a difference and saving marks so maybe I can buy a couple of i90 pieces, since i'm patient. I haven't been killed in 2gcd by marauder yet though. I try my best to tri-disaster them and run >.>;

Slowly inching closer to rank 20 >.>; over 7k marks too

2.2 gear will be like

-weapon & 1 ring : pve ilvl 110 (or ilvl 115 for the weapon if you are a raider)
- ilvl 90 pvp for the rest

ilvl 90 pvp weapon will do less damage (or healing) than ilvl 110 weapon. That why i think to buy a ilvl 90, considering you will need to meld materia on it, is not interesting now.

Ya I raid I use my Allagan weapons am. However I mainly do lv 40 so I don't get rolled in lv50 atm

Was kinda hoping we wouldn't have to change out of r30 gears too quick for the i110 stuff D: Feels nice to just have a consistant uniform. Know it'll vary greatly from person to person but think the i110 output'll justify the morale loss at least for dps??

Not likely, except for the weapon, since ilvl 70 pvp greatly outweighs ilvl 90 pve as of now.
