DR/DF Will Be Dead Post-2.2

Right now DR/DF is a pain for DPS as it is and Healers don't get insta-groups either, however a steady in not spectacular stream of Tanks join for their daily Tome haul.

One DL is no longer bartered for then gearing up alt. jobs will no longer create a need for Philos while Low Level DRs yield of 10 Mythos is derisory.

I see no reason why the majority of tanks and healers who now run Low Levels and thus help out new players still leveling will bother as they'll have nothing worth the time.

Worse, new players after 2.2 are going to be expected to do innumerable battles with the RNG to get the gear needed to get them into higher content .. this is a failed progression model that should be reserved for the phat lewt that doesn't gate progression.

SE clearly have pandered to the 'hardcore' and their demands and don't see the consequences of this change.

Oh, silly me, there is an alternative .. buying gil to buy crafted gear at the silly prices I expect to see after 2.2 because crafters know they'll have a far bigger market .. the RNG haters .. than they do now.

Did you miss the memo where Myth will now be awarded in all places that once rewarded Philo?

You'd be crazy to think that the current 100 Philo/10 Myth for completing a Low Level Roulette at cap won't change to 100 Myth/10 Soldiery. Same goes for Main Scenario Roulette.

New players won't have 'innumerable battles', as they simply will now grind Myth instead of Philo, awarding them with i90 gear. Darklight will just be a helpful bonus to fill a slot while you grind out more Myth, similar to the i55/i60 gear that drops right now in level 50 dungeons.

You realize new players can also do duty roulette for exp, same as players that are leveling alts. The people I know that are lvl 50, do the low level roullets for the bonus gil rewards.

Please read up on upcoming changes.

Philosophy are being completely phased out, it is logical to assume that anything that drops philosophy now will drop 50% of that amount (or equal) mythology after patch. Meaning low level DR will probably be 50-100 Myth and 5-10 new tomes. If you do LLDR for Philo now, you'll likely continue to do it for i90 gear post patch.

I don't know what the OP is talking about.

Most people run low-DR and pre-50 dungeons for either gear drops or XP, not tomes (with the exception of the once-per-day roulette bonus, which will still be there and people will still run that) I don't see this changing at all

I'm pleasantly surprised someone would come up with this conclusion. I mean, I'm pretty sure they made it obvious that philo -> myth conversion, so duty roulette would naturally give out myth instead.

What? Myth to hit full i90 is not RNG based. You can do Turn 4 in <7min right now. I'm sure echo buff will only improve the speed given there's the least # of mechanics you have to deal with relative to the other turns that echo can't possibly solve for. That's ~400 myth an hour. This is about on par with the average CM/Prae/WP runs philo/hour in 2.0. This is on top of the fact the 3 new dungeons will likely drop myth tomes in the quantity that AK/WP etc. drop philo right now or that WP/AK will also give out crazy amounts of myth since they are phasing out philosophy period. Or the fact that CT will give 200+ myth a run ontop of the i80 gear you can get to help progress/vanity. Or the fact that CM/Prae roulette would probably give out 300 myth daily since philo is getting eliminated.

Yoshida has stated numerous times he's aiming for this to be a casual game and has constantly rebuked hardcore mmo gamers and their desires (having shorter or job based lockouts for top tier coil, 24 man content that's difficult/worth doing, etc.). All the changes they are making in 2.2 make it easier for new or casual players to catch up to current content from the myth + philo changes I talked about that make it easier to climb to higher ilvls to echo buffs in the content that the 'hardcore' players were only doing before.

Myth gear is easier to obtain with 0 RNG in 2.2. You don't need coil gear to progress and don't complain about RNG with coil gear when people who have been doing 1-5 on a lockout have to wait 1 week between chances at that loot, not <10min. Nobody forces you to buy crafted gear and crafted gear is inferior to tome bought gear unless you overmeld it 90% of the time. I don't expect that to change.

Give me a new tank job and I'll happily jump into the duty roullete every day to mess around with it.

OP is clearly uninformed of the news that invalidates his whole point. We've known for a few days now that Philo was phasing out entirely and would be completely replaced with Myth.
