How is DoT Damage Calculated?

Hi everyone. My question is this: if you increase your damage in some way (Raging Strikes, Internal Release, etc.) do you have to do it BEFORE you apply a DoT to get the increased damage for each tic or does the increased damage take effect on tics no matter when the ability is activated?

To word it another way, is the tic damage set when you first activate a DoT ability or does it check on each individual tic?

The damage buff is applied when you cast it. So if you have raging strikes on then cast thunder, all those thunder ticks will be buffed by raging strikes, even if raging strikes wears off before thunder does, whereas if you cast thunder then use raging strikes none of the ticks get buffed.

From my testing and what I've seen of others' testing, this is accurate.

Thanks, this is the way I've been assuming it worked all this time but I wasn't sure and hadn't tested it.

some DoTs can crit as well.
