Just wanna throw this out there for Open World content (of sorts)- potentially 2.3

This will probably not come in 2.2 as they haven't mentioned anything yet and 2.2 is about a week away, but I'm sure people remember that summons were suppose to "roam" around Eorzea for Free Companies to capture and use.

Now knowing this much information, and if this information comes to pass in patch 2.3, is this something in terms of open world content you guys been wanting? A step in the right direction? I feel that (even though some people may not agree) have been trying to do open world content ( Treasure Maps/Beast Tribes). Can't say they haven't been attempting to put open world content into the game.

The Primals roaming Eorzea is probably apart of the Main scenario, either way should be fun when it comes. I remember them saying in a live letter before the launch of 2.0 that the only open world content will be in the form of FATEs, yet we have 2 (3 if you count the potential "Roaming primals") in the game.


What do you guys think of this feature?

I highly doubt it will rear it's head in 2.3 let alone show up at all.

I mean what would be the point of the system anyways? Nobody would bother capturing them asides perhaps for posterity. Nothing exists that would make having a primal in your pocket to summon. Considering it was supposed to change the world's weather and all sorts if potentially cool stuff... I just don't see it until they do something big with the open world. The idea was likely shelved in preparation for the dungeon treadmill.

The only way I see this coming back is either hilariously useless or part of a larger expansion pack that focuses on fleshing out the open world. It just can't fit with the current state of the game's design.

That's my bet anyways.

To my knowledge they're to be used in Frontlines. Could also see them being used in the Ishgard Dragon Campaigns, assuming that's on a similar level to XIs Campaign system.

Yep, and Ishgard defenses is suppose to come before the expansion. So it is likely that what they say about 2.3 with Primals Roaming may hold true. ( and Ishgard defense aka Campaign) be in 2.3.
