Apkallu Shortage

Now I know it's not as bad as Sheep which they added a whole lot more spawns for in Coerthas. But unless I'm missing something there is only one spawn in the entire game for apkallu and that's in Bloodshore. These eggs are highly sought after because they're used in a bunch of high level food recipes and it seems that every single time, no matter what time of day I go out there someone is already there farming them all and being the nice person I am I move along and don't start stealing kills from someone farming. My question is are there any more spawns I don't know about and if not are there any plans to be adding more spawns for apkallu?

Not for long. According to the 2.2 trailer you will be able to send out your retainer to receive 7 eggs which will take an hour. Not sure how we will gain the coins needed to send out our retainers so not sure how viable it will be. But yeah farming them sucks!

You will be able to send your retainers out on ventures to farm the eggs for you.

Either RMT are going to exploit this or its going to tank the MB on certain items that sell quickly for good gil.

Imagine.... every *single* person does Apkallu Venture on Retainer. On both retainers.
Wouldn't that be 14 eggs / person / hour? Prices prolly gonna crash so hard soon... as well as no need to worry about apkallu shortage anymore.

I wouldn't put too much hope in Ventures. From the trailer I gathered that it'll be a points system; the Retainer had "Number of Ventures: 98", at first I figured that's how many they've done, then when selecting what to hunt, 98 is shown in the top right, and the cost of a Venture is 1. Furthermore, Ventures provide the Retainer with EXP. The logical conclusion being that you level up your Retainer, while Eggs are at Lv.41-45, so Retainers wont be able to farm those for some time. Then you're only getting 7/Hr, with no noticeable way to automate it, meaning if you want a lot you're going to need to camp a Retainer Bell every hour. I also doubt your Retainer can sell and Venture at the same time, so sending them all off would mean you can't sell anything.

There are also two other options besides Hunts for Retainer Ventures to take. We have no idea what those might be, but it's possible it could result in less people automatically farming "rare" items with no effort. I can see it having an impact on the economy, but I can't see it crashing it entirely. Most people in this game are far to fickle for that, the price will crash, they'll forget about it, and the price will return to normal. Exact same thing happened when people realized Pudding Flesh dropped in Pharos Sirius on Excalibur, though I guess you can attribute that to the "difficulty" of the dungeon...

My server they aren't in that short of supply. I can farm them without too much interference and I definitely make more than 7 eggs an hour.

Best time to farm them yourself is during the Lupus FATE while every player in this area is busy with the FATE and ignore the Apkallus for a while.
