[Dev1016] What effects synthesis? Clarification wanted/needed/demanded?!
I haven't seen any topic regarding this, so I decided to start one on my own.
If there is another topic about pretty much the same content, please take this as a reminder that clarification is needed!
But now to my actual post.
Seeing the history of FFXI, we know Square is good at implementing things that effect whatever you do in a way that is not shown or hinted towards, that can only be confirmed through deep testing and a lot of parsing.
There are things like Moon Phase, Day/Month/Season/Umbral/Astral etc etc.
Considering the amount of people playing FFXIV though, there has been no real testing yet, as there are simply not enough players who care enough AND have the knowledge to execute such tests with enough scientific reasoning that they could be considered valid tests.
And this brings me to the reason why I post this and demand clarification through SE themselves(or whatever division in the XIV Dev Team is responsible for the synthesis)
What REALLY effects crafting???????
(and in that term gathering as well, if it is effected in similiar ways)
Everybody has their own superstitious stuff spreading around the net and to prevent something like the "crafting compass" in XI, where pretty much NOTHING was ever confirmed, but people just followed it since it doesn't hurt, I want REAL and CONFIRMED information straight from the Dev Team.
I'm all for leaving some "mysteries" in the world where it is appealing to find out about that stuff yourself(if its content), but we are talking about a base game mechanic and I'm getting sick of not knowing for sure what I'm supposed to do to maximize my results.
SE released information about what Stat effects which tool(main and offhand), which was something I really appreciated, but after that it just stopped. No more information about what effects the synthesis progress. We know that Craftmansship and M.Craftmansship influences different synthesis recipes, but we don't know which one is influenced by what and the whole randomness you face in EACH synth is making it impossible to really conduct enough testing with reasonable results that could tell you which recipe is favoured by which craftmansship...
If SE wouldn't have released the information about the stats for tools, nobody would know by now and nobody would have been able to do enough testing, since the effect of your stat on quality is so marginal, that there is no way of telling it effects it, cause the amount of quality you gain on the different coloured orbs varies way too much from the beginning. You can get as much as 40 quality on a rainbow orb and as low as 15(perfect synth only). This is just unacceptable.
To anybody who is in favour of the crafting system being a whole mystery(and probably flaming me on your post for just wanting this information cause I'm too stupid to synth anything higher than +1...check my FFXIVPro profile and you will see that I'm fully aware of how to craft, I'm just sick of relying on superstition when all I want is facts)
Right now the only thing I'm pretty sure that effects synthesis is the moon phase. At first my favoured moon phases changed during my time playing XIV, but now I'm set on one and I had quite a bunch of +2/+3 synths on it. But I'm sick of not knowing if it's really THAT, or if it's just luck from the get go.
So...PLEASE XIV Dev Team, whoever is responsible for all this randomness and superstitious crap, PLEASE give us clarification. Tell us WHAT effects WHAT and do it in detail. If there is anything besides the moon phase, or not even the moon phase, I want to know!!!
