A recommendation on the BCoB weekly lockout.
Hi SE dev team, if you take the time to read this please take my statements to heart and possibly attempt to implement them in future development cycles.
I just wanted to state that coming from the hardcore community of this game (I know, we are the minority) i can speak for most of us when I say we don't have a reason to "really" log in other than Monday.
Another issue with the weekly lockout system i will illistrate with this example. My FC had 40 people clearing twin every week at the time we had our first bow drop. From November to february. 40 people and around 30-35 clears later we finally got one, as an FC.
With the casual approach to this game it almost seems unfair that you can go an entire 2 patches and never get that one piece that you need.
My proposed solutions to all of these problems are as follows:
`1. Make the Coil lockout like the CT lockout. One piece a week and it's spammable. This still slows down gear progression based on the number of pieces you need each week, and with the time inbetween patches, works out almost perfectly. This will also allow you to eventually reliably gear other jobs rather than having to hope pieces for your alt jobs drop that the mains don't need.
2. Change the weekly lockout to a 3 or 4 day lockout. This would liven up the game and make people log in more as well. With a goal to work towards twice a week rather than once. However; this could potentially make people get geared faster due to no one-piece-a-week system in place.
Either route that is taken would increase the amount of people logging in every day, or more during the week in general. You'd have less people getting bored and quitting the game. You'd have the people that pay for the game be less frustrated at it because they are clearing the entirety of the end game raid every week and just can't seem to get a drop for the life of them. The hardcore are paying just as much for the game as casuals, why not give them a reason to log in too, without hurting the well-being of the rest of the community. Please take this to heart, Square Enix, I don't know a single person who doesn't want at least one of my solutions be made into reality.
