There is plenty being done but the moment they ban accounts the RMT'ers make new ones.
I just don't understand how this is happening. I played WOW for years and never had this issue. What seems funny to me is that when I issue a complaint on the game support the tells seem to stop, until I log off and then back on. As soon as I log on, I am greeted with a RTM tell.
It probably seems to stop because RMTs use the same account for upwards of 15 minutes to repeatedly spam people. If you're the first one hit and you blacklist them, you probably won't be hit again for a little while (and if you are in a dungeon or something you cannot receive /tells) unless there are multiple accounts spamming the same zone at that time. Square's not as aggressive about removing RMT as most people would like. The temporarily ban rather than delete because RMT frequently steal legitimate accounts and get up to shenanigans so SE of course wants to restore accounts to their owners rather than destroy them. Personally I'm not even sure how RMT exists in this game given that there's virtually no player economy and very limited uses for gil in excess of the amounts you receive from regular play.
lucky for me being in Masamune, seems RMT in that world is dead, haven't been getting any RMT spams for 4-5 months already. But i do know is that a lot of NA/EU servers has them majority thou not all w.
The main reason I can imagine they still spam on FF14 is because there is a market for gil selling, and in my honest opinion the market is created by Square. The unreal cost of housing is ridiculous, I understand why it is so; however prices like these entice lazier people to just buy the gil. If people stop buying gil, the sellers make no money and would stop spamming.
I'm sure Square is doing what they can to prevent the spamming, however it isn't up to them whether or not the gil sellers make money. Having played a lot of free to play MMOs, I can honestly say the spamming is extremely mild compared to what I'm use to (spam so fast you can't even scroll up to read what people said). I just blacklist them and move along. Try not to let a few spammers ruin your experience.
I fixed it!! I will get no more in game spam! My solution...cancel my subscription. After dealing with an in game GM and having them tell me that the only way they can help with the situation was for me to submit a report and send them a copy of each tell when I got one. I laughed and said I have a better solution. It is a shame, I was willing to pay each moth to play this game.
Honestly it's a minor inconvenience at best. Cancelling you sub? That seems a little extreme if you claim you wanted to play this game.
Blacklist. Report. Move on is the best solution on our end
Yes I may have gone overboard, but the lack of help from SE is frustrating. I am not sure as to why they didn't recommend the busy setting? Does this exist? Can I turn this on on PS3 and not receive tells?
