lol, why is the information on the OFFICIAL FF14 WEBSITE still wrong 6 months after release? :p
Yeah...... >.>
I believe the Light Strike/Heaby Strike abilities replaced the whole stance thing. Not really sure why they didnt make it into the game.
The stance thing kinda is in the game, but in a different form. OK, so they don't scale as advertised, but it's there none-the-less.
Using Light Strike, the defensive option, gives you a defensive buff.
Using Heavy Strike allows you to use Flurry, increasing the damage output.
Weaponskills aren't affected in either scenario therefore you get better bursts of damage than you would otherwise get in the defensive stance of the original idea. While you don't get a damage increase buff, you do deal more damage and get more TP when using Flurry, thereby further increasing your potential damage output though more frequent usage of weaponskills. It's also a lot easier to monitor your aggression using the current system than having to consider some sliding scale.
So, I conclude that the system we currently have in place provides more benefit to pugilists than the original concept would have.
However, Steal? yes please.
Gun
To be honest, the original reason I went Pugilist was for Steal... I'm not even kidding.
Even after I discovered it isn't actually a skill I can get as a Pugilist (at the moment?) I haven't stopped playing the class. There must be something about punching things in the face that I just can't get enough of.
Actually, I'm gonna guess on a limb that no, they wont ever make it and the fundamentals of melee battle system will get a big change.
In the data there is a stealth ability called Coeurl Step and an ability called Steal, but I think they're above Rank 50. That might be incorporated into the advanced job system eventually.
Excuse him
