Elemental Resists?
So, I played this game for a couple of weeks now and am still quite low lvl, but there was one thing that kinda bothers me.
Most Final Fantasies I played had some elemental system (ice being weak to fire etc.) and this game doesn't, at least afaik.
I mean, it really doesn't make sense to kill Ifrit with Fire I :| Kinda takes away the immersion imo.
What do you guys think? Do you think adding an elemental system would be good for the game or not?
(I hope I'm posting this in the right forum >.<)

I totally agree, but that would take away any diversity. Parties would consist out of black mages only, since they would do huge amount more damage then monk or so. Why take dragoon if you can go quintuple BLM and Blizzaga the shizzle out of Ifrit.

Yeah, I can see your point.
Wouldn't a solution to that be adding a buffer class/job. Like some mobs cast stuff like "Enfire" etc to add a fire property to their attack. I assume they can create a job/class that does the same for party members. Wouldn't that sort of solve the problem for monks and other DPS classes that aren't BLM?
I guess that'd make that class mandatory though, hmm...
I dunno, I just think it'd be cool if the game included elemental properties and I do think it's possible if they balance it properly :P (then again, I'm still new to this game, so I prolly don't know much >.<)

I get the idea, and I would love it, but its just hard to implement. and if every character would get a elemental version of every attack, there wouldn't be much diversity anyways. Fire punch, fire arrow, fire dash, fire slash, fire cast...

They cannot make real elemental based based due to what was said above, what they could do however is give f.e fire based spells a burning dot, snare/root on ice, stun/para on lightning and so on.

Wouldn't really work either, would only obstruct runs. Think about it. Trying to stun ifrit? You can't, the thunder of a blm just did that and now its immune. Actively using it would be darn hard as well due to cast times. Ice does snare you. At least freeze and Blizz II do. But again, takes a long cast time, or you need to get closer to the mobs, which might end in your death since BLM is squishy.
