Can you make gear for other characters?

I was thinking leveling two characters to 50, and splitting the job/crafting classes between them. However I was just wondering would I be able to craft gear for both characters?

For example if I leveled a Alchemist for character 1 could I craft gear for character 2, and if so I would I send them the gear?

If anyone has any tips, it would be much appreciated.

It won't work like that.

But you can send stuff to trusted player to send these to your another character.

Have to add on friend list to able to send moogle mail.

And you can only send friend requests to someone who is online at the time .. which is why you can't friend another character on your account.

Otherwise making gear for other people is, to me, most of the point of crafting

Or deposit stuff in your company chest and withdraw it on the alt.

...why not just have one character who does it all?

Well you can also have your alt character be your customer of the crafted items:
1. Simply list the items you wish your alt to have on the Marketplace at a decent high price.
2. Then log out of your main, login with your alt and purchase those items.

Just make sure you list the items at a high enough price to permit you time to log out and in to buy the item; the price should be set so that if by chance another player buys it before your alt does, you enjoy making gil from the item.
