Implement Quick Gathering

Greetings fellow Eorzeans! So after spending many a fun hour on my Weaving class and Botanist, an idea came upon me. Since Disciples of the Hand have Quick Synthesis to help speed along their crafting, what if we got a Quick Gathering ability? This would be useful when you are farming shards or another item that you are guaranteed to get. So you'd hit Quick Gather, select the item you want, and then your DoL takes 4 quick strikes at that item. You could quickly move between nodes this way and you wouldn't have to sit there and click X 4 or 5 times, with wait time in between, for a Lightning Shard you are 100% guaranteed to get. It would also be a cool visual if your gatherer went into an overdrive animation. They could even have them jumping all over the tree/node like a cartoon character. I think this would be a wonderful idea, what do my fellow Eorzeans think about it?

The problem is that the time it takes to gather a node is the only real choke point on the majority of materials in this game. And since you can get pretty much get every material to a 100% gather rate, and can, with proper gear, ensure that pretty much everything lvl70 or below can be auto-HQed, even with bad mats, you'd essentially be bombing out what little economic wiggle room many of the servers have left.

Essentially, this only sounds cool when you have it, not when everyone has it.

BTN needs different options available. It's boring to level. Their leves are garbage and there is basically no profit. I feel fishing is so much easier to level and well more fun. Plus Bots can't fish making their market much better. If they added a quick gathering option I feel leveling BTN wouldn't be like going to the dentist everyday and getting a root cannel. It wouldn't make it any less useless or useful ( thanks botters :) ) because top gathering items are what 4g a pop? At least on my server.

Bots don't fish because it's not profitable enough, but I assure you, they would fish if it was... Sad, but true :/

Try selling huge quantities of lower level mats like cotton bolls/flax/etc. With all these people trying to jump in and grind crafting levels stuff like that always sells, especially if it's HQ. There isn't a lot of money in it, but it'll keep you in Gil so you can upgrade your gear and have still have some left over.
