SE needs to raise the AOE indicators to be above the surface of water. At the present, they are actually below the surface, making them difficult to see and therefore avoid. The more reflective the water settings in the graphics options, the less chance you have to see the void zone.
Ran into this in brayflox on PC w/ max settings the first time I fought the frog boss, didn't even realize he was using giant red flashy AOEs for a while. I just turned my camara so that it was almost a straight down view of my character's head for the fight and I could see everything perfectly though. It was kind of fun, like I was playing some old school topdown game, lol.
I had this issue with the original AOE indicator. In the water, it blends right in with the river bottom if the bottom is brown.
