error 90000 since 2/23
I was playing this just fine before 2/23 and now I can't even get past character lobby. I've tried restarting my router, turning it on and off, I'm currently playing on a wireless connection but I've never had any problems with it so i troubleshooted with a wired connection and I STILL got 90000, I've opened every single port needed. I'm able to play every other online game just fine, but FF14 seems to only have this problem.
Then I went to chat support and told me it was an ISP problem. So I went to my ISP and they told me it was a server-side problem. I did this TWICE and they still passed me off to each other. WTF?
Allow me to elaborate on what I was told by both chat support from SE and my ISP. SE support told me it was still a problem with my ISP since there seemed to be a problem between my client and their servers and when I told them that I can play all other online games with the exception of FF14 just fine, they passed it off like FF14 was a very special case by saying no other game transmits as much data as FF14, so it wasn't their problem. The chat support for my ISP told me it was a server-side problem because if I can play other online games with no problems, the problem must lie in THEIR servers.
This is so frustrating that I'm going to be cancelling my account in the next few days if this isn't addressed.

Don't expect a response here from tech support. Hopefully a community member has a helpful suggestion though.

Having the same problem here. I can get as far as the character selection screen, get the loading screen up and I get disconnected every time I'm in the loading screen...
Mine seemed to have started yesterday 24 Feb.

Okay, it took 3 different support associates but one of them gave a favorable answer. Apparently there is an issue with subscribers from Texas with Verizon as their service provider. Many people have reported the issue who are both from Texas and have Verizon as their service provider and this problem has been persistent since Sunday evening, which is about the time I started having issues myself. The chat support specialist has stated that it is currently being investigated and talks with Verizon regarding this problem will begin as soon as investigation is completed. Until then we just have to be patient, I guess.

Well that explains it... of course... I have Verizon as my provider... and I live in friggin' Texas.

I have an FC member with the same issues. We need to consolidate all users having this issue into one thread so we can have aggregate data.
Oddly enough, the FC member does live in Texas and his home ISP is indeed Verizon, but when he attempts to play at work (not on Verizon) the issue persists.
Hopefully with enough information from users we can:
Confirm the issue is geo specific
Confirm the issue is Verizon (I doubt Verizon is the catalyst)
Check for possible work arounds
Has anyone attempted to VPN or proxy the DNS chain? In theory, with a VPN/Proxy, you are no longer connecting to Verizon's route path and should work.

Aw crap I too live in Texas and have Verizon as a provider and am having the same damn problem!
Is anyone reading these threads? Are we supposed to just wait form someone to read it and fix it? How long do we wait?
Also, I just created a new character and logged on to the same server without problem. So don't see how verizon is the issue.

Well, just to kind of throw off the theory, but... I've been getting this a bit. Not at the Char Selection screen, but it's happening in game often, and only in the last 2 days. It may happen after 10 mins play (like just now) or 2 hours, but I'm getting the 90000 error due to connection lost... but, I'm in Australia. So... =/

I'm having same issues since yesterday. I'm getting either d/c issues and 90k errors every few minutes. Happens in world and on df. Was running a df dungeon last night and some of the group I was with was getting pretty annoyed and wanted to kick. Couple of them toughed it out three man a lot of the run and was able finish the final boss w/o me. I was able to just stand there behind purple wall and watch. Game is totally unplayable right now. Logged in tonight in New Girdania and was barely able to interact with anything until it 90k'd and I gave up. By the way I'm in Malboro w/ an Ohio isp.

So i ended up contacting SE and they told me it happens to people in Texas with Verizon internet. They asked me to run a trace route and contact verizon with the findings. Verizon reviewed and said that the time out is happening after it exits their servers, so they don't have control over that. For me, this is a SE problem. I hope SE is doing something to fix it. No way I am starting over with a new character.
