Suggestions from a New Players perspective

I purchased this game 4 days ago. I knew the game was rumored to be fiddled with problems. Even the clerk at gamestop commented "I didn't expect to be selling one of these any time soon. However I have been a big Final Fantasy fan since mystic quest and am hoping for some major improvements. I am only posting these suggestions to help as I feel that several players may have gotten used to many of the Clunky elements of the game.

Targeting:
The biggest concern of mine is the targeting. I am currently a level 27 thaumaturge and level 24 conjurer. I find it very difficult to cast on enemies, however casting on friendly players seems fine. Being asked to turn AOE on every cast is redundant, this can simply be made a toggle that is a bind reducing the need for an extra click on each target. My goal is to one day play this game and cast a spell on my current target by hitting '4' and nothing else.

Additionally I don't feel that tab should swap between non-hostile targets. If a player is not hostile and you need to heal them you can use the party frame which is much quicker and more intuitive anyway. If they are not in the party use your mouse. The tab targeting for the game currently feels like its a console port before the game has even been released on a console.

Interface:
Spell Bar:
You should be able to turn off/on the auto-hide feature of the spell bar. It would be convenient to bind these spellbar keys to whichever key you like, so that you can cast spells on page two without cycling pages.
All widgets on the screen should have the option of being locked.

Menu:
When opening a menu item, such as journal, you should be able to close the journal by clicking on journal again, instead of just clicking the close [X] on the window. When journal is open, you should be able to close the journal by opening a different window, such as inventory. This should carry over to all widgets, when I bring up the emotes window with N and I want to see the map I shouldn't have to close out of the emotes window. I should be able to simply press [M].
When clicking on a notification in the status bar (party invite), it should bring up that option directly. Instead users are required to click on the notification which opens up the menu, and then click on the notification again.

Map:
It would be very handy to have to option to zoom out in the map using the mouse wheel. Instead zooming out zooms your camera, which you can hardly see through the map. I have also placed my chat box in the upper right for personal preference. Doing this covers up my map menu. I do not need to see the chat box while looking at the map.

The Fatigue System::p
As much as I am sure that this topic has been beaten into the ground I must provide my perspective on this system. While I was actually enlightened by the fairness that the fatigue system seemed to provide after watching a video on how it worked exactly I found that I was generally a bad idea for punishing people that wish to play your game. As much as I hate to say it Blizzard seemed to get this concept right by increasing experience gain of players that were idle for extended periods rather than punishing those active. If removed the leveling curve would have to be increased to make leveling take longer without fatigue in place. The fatigue system was a unfair approach to make leveling fair.

As I previously stated I am a new player. If there currently exists a solution to the problems aforementioned please reply with it.

well like you expected some of your suggestions were already discussed, some several times.

Here is what I know:

The fatigue system is going away, either the next patch or sometime in the summer.

the UI is getting revamped also, to what extent and the specifics I do not know, but I am sure the menus are getting addressed. The Action bars are also planned to be permanent (or have the option to anyways) and possibly the 3 bars at the same time so you don't have to circle through them.

Targeting, though it received several updates and fixes, I think they are still working on along with the battle system revamp.

+1 to this thread, I dislike that my action bar disappears when I'm not casting. The lack of ability to filter out hostile and none hostiles from my auto targetting abilities. Also.. I find camera lock obnoxious if your trying to tank

Thanks Perrin! Was kinda thinking about the Fatigue system just hadn't really checked around *bows my head in shame*
