Hi,
Have purchased on Steam and after logging in and clicking play.. game just goes to a black screen. Have tried resetting IE settings, updated drivers, closes down apps in the background, modified the CFG file to stop the video from playing but still no go.
Running on a MSI GT70 laptop.
There was a post the other day about someone having issues with Steam install where they launched the game differently and it worked... something about a "non-Steam game". Don't use Steam, so can't give the specifics... will see if I can find the thread and paste a link to it.
grr.. can't find it again. Forum is getting flooded because of all the new chatter with the PS4 beta and the big Steam sale bringing in new people. It may have been something about linking it to the Steam Overlay as a non-Steam game...seen a good bit of chatter about issues with that process when people try to get the stand-alone game to run with the Steam Overlay. If the FFXIV executable(s) aren't properly linked, it may be causing some issues. IDK if you can launch the game as a normal install when it is installed through Steam or not, but you could try that as well I guess if it is showing up in your normal programs menu from the Windows Start Menu. If you are already doing that and that is how it is crashing, might want to try launching it from Steam instead.
