Complete Audio Mute

I would like to see a complete audio mute in the in-game options. I know one exist in the the game config but one in-game would be nice.

While there is good music and ambient sound in the game, after long periods of time playing, it does tend to get a bit repetitive. When I get to this point I sometimes wish I could just mute the game entirely but I find that one can still hear ambient sounds, like wolves howling and wind blowing in Coerthas, for example.

I would just like to mute all sound so that I am able to listen to music outside of the game without having to log off completely to do so.

This might not help but, in Windows 7, you have the option to disable the sound from specific apps. Though, I do agree that there should be an in-game option for muting all audio.

i would like this option, there is this option but all way in ffxiv config witch means u need log out to do witch is to much work so i end up keeping the volume always off rather then toggling it on and off. like mentioned above though u can go to u'r volume mixer and turn mute on or off there instead. but yeah would be nice if it was right in game.

This has been brough up many times and there has been a response from a community rep.
Currently ambient sounds are running on a different system from the rest of the sounds, and that is the reason why they are not affected by the volume slider.
Eventually they will get around to fixing this, but it is not currently a high priority.

But, yeah.. it should be in game too for those playing full screen..

srsly, just doubleclick the sound icon on windows taskbar, muts FFXIV from there... gotta run window. not that i don't agree.

what loth said, has already been discussed by community rep and the development team are aware of the issue and intend on fixing at some point in time
