[EU][PS4™ Version] Current Issues with the FINAL FANTASY XIV PS4™ Beta Test Version
A number of issues with Japanese text entry have been confirmed in the FINAL FANTASY XIV PS4™ Beta version.
Issues Affecting Japanese Text Entry
- Pressing the Ctrl, Alt & Shift keys may result in text entry data being assigned to a wrong key. If players then attempt to use text entry in FFXIV (e.g. in chat or mail) this will result in a string of text appearing with the wrongly assigned keys.
We have employed some temporary measures on the application side to help prevent this issue from occurring, but were unable to completely fix it. Unfortunately, these countermeasures have unexpectedly led to slower processing speed when entering text.
- After players have entered text in Japanese and converted the pre-formatted text to a set auto-translate phrase, hitting the Arrow Key (←) or Enter at the start of a character string will cause the pre-formatted text instead of the set auto-translate phrase to appear.
Fix schedule
We are working to address this issue in an upcoming system software update for the PlayStation®4. Once the modified system software is ready, we will also implement a patch or an update for the FFXIV application to coincide with the system software update. This should resolve the problem.
Until then, issues with the text system will affect the input speed of Japanese language entry for players. We apologise for any inconvenience, and will provide further information once the dates for this update have been finalised.
